| LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland pleaded innocent on Monday to drug charges in California, and said he would again enter a rehabilitation program to try to kick persistent heroin and cocaine habits, court officials said.
Weiland, 35, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession during a routine traffic stop on May 17 in Burbank, California, after police allegedly spotted drug paraphernalia inside the car he was riding in. He and the driver of the car, 29-year-old Jennifer Lynn Sires, were later charged with cocaine and heroin possession and released on $10,000 bail.
He was scheduled to return to court on July 11 so that a preliminary hearing can be set.
The same charges sent Weiland to prison in 1999, after he repeatedly violated his probation and failed to complete drug rehab.
Stone Temple Pilots has been on hiatus since cutting its 2001 album "Shangri-La Dee Da," and its members were reportedly pursuing other projects. Weiland reportedly had been pursuing his own solo project with members of the band Guns 'N Roses. |
