I have never liked DJ in this band so this is welcome news to me.  Good luck finding a new guitarist Axl (if you choose to do so).

Perhaps if Axl had given DJ a creative voice in his own damn band, he would not be leaving it.

But hey, only had 7 years.

..... which will always be the ongoing problem for anybody who ever joins the band.  They will always be at Axl's mercy, and it's up to them if it's worth it to face all the consequences of having something occupying a major portion of your life that you have no control over.

What "band"?  This is not a band.

Isn't it time to finally give up that ghost?

Now I know how all those legions of One Direction & Take That fans feel. I don't think I can wear my Ashba Swag dressing gown tonight.

This seems to have come from nowhere.

You are not wrong, but lets not make people crazy by pointing it out.

Unfortunately, it will most likely be a while before we hear any kind of whispers from the man himself on any of this.

Yeah, true on both points.

The band Guns N? Roses broke up in the early 90?s.
It?s just taking Axl and some fans longer than others to come to terms with it.
Every one grieves differently.

I am at a loss to claims that this is exciting. It's like you don't really care who's in the band.

I agree. To be 'excited' by this news presupposes a change in band persona will result in a more exciting situation than that which existed 2009-2015.

Well, like I said, I do think it's sad that DJ is gone. He was great and a class act. Very respectful to the past, a great guitarist and what not. I also thought it was sad when all the others left...

What I learned tho is that whatever came Afterwards was always great and many times greater. I guess I'm just exited for everything new that happens with Guns even tho someone I came to love is no longer in the band.

I don't think this is the end and I'm looking forwards to whatever happens.

My own concern is not touring but new material. We are often told that the 2009-15 line-up was the most stable line-up in gnr history yet it produced not a single note of released music. It is a fair bet that line-up changes will derail CD2 further.

If they bring back Robin then?

Cannot see it myself. I do not think many guitarists of at least a, 'semi established' financially sound, position such as Robin would want to join this band again. Let's face it, any worthy guitarist is going to count the names of fallen axemen - Slash, Buckethead, Finck, Bumblefoot, Ashba - and question whether that is a ship worth joining. Unless of course you lower the barometer considerably and grab guitarists who simply need the money.

I think it is fair to say SIXX AM will not generate the same revenue as GN'R yet Ashba has chosen SIXX AM so something must really be amiss.

Unless DJ was making big money doing nothing on the GNR payroll, I'd be willing to bet SIXX AM won't be worse off for cash.  GNR doesn't make squat as it sits around in limbo, not touring, not making albums.

But at the end of the day, it can't just be about money anyway.  I find it very telling that DJ made a point to mention his family as a reason for quitting GNR.  It makes a statement on what GNR was sapping from his life.

Well then it is a win win scenario for him. He gets to collaborate in a band which functions normally and gets paid when there is no actual money coming from his other job (gnr).

One band gives him the chance to write, record, and generally be creative.

The other band asks him to play the same 20 songs from 25 years ago that he had nothing to do with.

Not really a hard call, is it?

Really? I find DJ's letter to be insincere and self serving.
This only got a mention in Rollingstone because of Axl. Just another way to promote himself I guess.
It's a shame I was a huge DJ Ashba fan. Expected better from him.
