I'm sure putting up with his whole schtick would be tiring.

He acts like that all the time right?

What is the strangest thing that you've seen or heard Buckethead ever do?

Tommy Stinson: The strangest thing was walking around with him without his outfit on, because he's actually more uncomfortable and strange in that? the most awkward guy I've ever met in my life.

Haha not exactly a ringing endorsement.

It's time for Mike Mckagan to start rallying the troops ...

If any of you can pine for robin or bucket I'm gunna pine for the band that built Guns N Roses

I don't need to see GNR version 5.0 at this point.

Yeah, I'm in that camp too.

If you are going to bring back "alumni", go the full monty and get the real fucking band.

If Axl tours again with a record of some kind, I'm good with whatever he rolls out on stage , but let's be real .. If he is going to tour as guns n roses with a whole new cast or a mish mash of former and current guys...

Why not do it right at this point

At some point, you need to admit this didn't work.

If not now, when?

Robin, Richard, Tommy, Chris, Dizzy, Frank and Axl would be a two-guitarist version of 2006 though. Not really a brand new line-up.

In terms of what's most realistic, I think this would be it. A classic line-up reunion, although awesome, would be highly unlikely. Maybe a semi-reunion where Duff seems to be the one most likely to join again.

I don't know I see Robin (or anyone) coming back if Axl is not going to be serious about releasing the material they worked on.

Yeah, the rest of the exchange...

So you've seen Buckethead without his bucket?

Tommy Stinson: Yeah. Real pain in the ass.

Wow. You are blessed.

Tommy Stinson: No. Wasn't a blessing. Far from a blessing, my friend.

Of course, that has to be a factor.

Since Robin probably is on most of the recorded songs anyway, it would be logical to bring him in again. If he wants to of course.

GNR will continue but the unreleased CD material might be buried now, just as the mid-90s unreleased recordings with Slash got buried.  I recall Axl saying something along the lines that the recordings with Slash couldn't be continued because he didn't know anyone else who could play like Slash.  Maybe the same logic has applied with the CD stuff; my guess is that it become too difficult getting a final product done without both Buckethead and Finck, as they were the guys who were central to initially creating those songs.

It seems that the 3 options would be classic reunion, BH/Finck reunion, or another re-boot.  The benefit of a classic reunion is that you already have old recordings in place that can be worked on and bandmates who have enough personal wealth and outside income that allows them to work at a start/stop pace with long breaks in between.

Too bad DJ'S leaving.  I like him. Not a big fan of Sixx AM though. So in my head this isn't a good decision.  The show must go on anyway.  Axl is getting pro at this, so I don't worry.  When Guns are back,  it will be good,  with or without DJ and Bumblefoot.  Today Axl IS Guns n' Roses, independent of who else is in or out. Of course the latest version was mind blowing, but the history has shown that when a great player is gone, a even better is presented to us  Smiley

A classy way to go, all in all. As much as I'd love to speculate, there's just no point.  Everything will be done according to Axl's will and timeline, which is ultimately as it should be, even though it will be insanely frustrating, aka "normal."   I'm anxious to see what comes next.

I largely agree with this.

But those guys have been gone for YEARS.  So what, exactly, has he been doing this past however many years?  Jerking off?

If what you are saying is true, and I think it has some basis, that shit was never coming out anyway.  And all the bullshit we have heard for the past few years has been just that : bullshit.  Looks that evil bastard Ron was pretty on point, no?

At least now we can stop playing pretend, I suppose.

I dont get it.
The new album is cancelled because Axl cant find anybody who plays like Ashba, who most likely didnt play on the new album.?

For me this sounds like the perfect time to wrap up the new album and start the next chapter.
