Marmite Militia, taking over one piece of toast at a time!!!

Did anyone opt for the balacony?

I didn't even see it as an option...just took best available (which put me on the floor).

There's no seating up there, FYI.  At least, there wasn't last time I was there (which, admittedly, was awhile back).

And by tough, you mean busy and crawling with people and traffic.

Not tough, as in the way it used to be, back in the 80's.

Indeed - tough may not have been the best choice of words.  Annoying, more like.  NYC bars on Friday night are crazy enough but in Times Square...oy.  A little off the beaten path will probably be easiest for a group.

I'm considering getting a hotel room.  That why I don't have to worry about getting home late, catching a train or bus back to Jersey, or driving drunk and tired!  Hotwire has rooms just over 100 in midtown.

Honestly...NYC (and, to a lesser extent, LA) is the ONE place I wouldn't dare use Hotwire.  I want to know where the room I'm getting is BEFORE I pay for it, there.

We talked about getting a room just outside the city...but I think I'm going to just suck it up and do the 2 hour drive home.

Or, if there are enough CT folks going...maybe we can check into a party bus, or something.

I just wanted to clarify given there are probably a bunch of out of towners heading to the show...who might not know the city real well.  And people sometimes take "tough" when referencing NYC to mean "I'm liable to get mugged".

As long as they don't go traipsing down to Central park and start wandering.....they'll be fine.

Its not bad, trust me, done it before.  Right now you can get a 3 1/2 star hotel in 'Central Midtown' as they describe it for 105.  Its got 75% favorable reviews.  How bad can it be for 1 night?  Its not like they're putting you up in the ghetto!

Yeah, as far as neighborhoods go, Times Square might as well be Disneyland these days.  It's safe, just SUPER annoying.

I am IN for a pre-party, though.

I've seen some spots in NYC that Hotwire rates at 3 stars that...well...lets just say that I wouldn't rate them 3 stars.  Places I wouldn't stay.....not because of the area, but because the places are not up to my standards of clean (which, admittedly, are kinda high).

Parking (sort of out of the way) within a couple blocks of Roseland, that won't be overrun by Square tourists?  Anything?

Or am I just going to have to deal with bedlam and like it?

Try the Central Parking website - they show all their locations (and I know there's a few right around that area) and they have coupons!

I will...do you know if they offer "pre-purchase" via the web site (sorta like they do at Yankee Stadium)?

I was just going to post the same exact thing. I always use them.  Obviously, don't park in a lot that closes at a certain hour.
