Hey everyone, its been a great year for music, especially rock.  Since its December, what are some of your top albums of the year? Here's mine,

1. Sum 41 "Screaming Bloody Murder"

2. Blink 182 "Neighborhoods"

3. Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows "D.R.U.G.S

4. Angels and Airwaves "Love Part 1 and 2"

5. Hell or Highwater "Begin Again"

6. Sixx A.M. "This is Gonna Hurt"

7. Megadeth "Th1rt3en"

8. Foo Fighters "Wasting Light"

9. Noel Gallagher "Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds"

10. A Day To Remember "What Separates Me From You"

Honorable mentions Red Hot Chili Peppers "I'm With you", Sebastian Bach "Kicking and Screaming", Black Veil Brides "Set the World on Fire", Beady Eye "Different Gear, Still Speeding", Anthrax "Worship Music" and Limp Bizkit "Gold Cobra" (that album was fun for about a week or so)

I can't pick 10......ummmmm let's see.

1. Sixx A.M. - This is Gonna Hurt
2. Korn - The Path of Totality

By default those are my top 2 because they're the only ones I bought (and I didn't buy the Korn album YET, as it doesn't come out until next week, but I will)

Guess it's been a slow year for me..

Chris Cornell - Songbook
Rolling Stones - The Brussells Affair
Rolling Stones - Some Girls Deluxe Edition
David Bazan - Strange Negotiations

Kind of cheating, but Soundgarden at Mohegan Sun, CT and Jeff Beck & Imelda May Band @ the Wang were the best live shows of 2011 for me, and I was able to track down great quality bootlegs of both.

I also bought Social D, Foo Fighters and Megadeth's new albums, but haven't gotten into em yet.

Forgot Primus put out a new one, will have to check it out..

RHCP I'm With You

That was so bad I literally threw it in the trash can the second day I had it.

Don't have a top ten. But the Stones Some Girls reissue bonus disc is sublime.

Haven't listened to a lot of new music that I would consider all that memorable, at least this year, but The Black Keys' "El Camino" would likely be at the top of my list if I tried to put one together.  Probably their best since "Magic Potion" (I wasn't a big fan of last year's "Brothers").

I got Adele's 21 at the beginning of the year and loved it. It was the first album I was excited about buying in a long time.

1. Florence and the Machine -- Ceremonials
2. The Sounds -- Something to Die For
3. Slash -- Live, Made in Stoke
4. Within Temptation -- The Unforgiving
5. Evanescence -- Evanescence

Those are the only ones I bought this year.  Florence's album was by far the best.  I can't stop listening to that one.

This is my favorites of the year (so far, I'm a little slow with keeping up to date, can discover "new" music, and then it's many years old):

Michael Monroe - Sensory Overdrive

Primus - Green Naugahyde

Loaded - The Taking

Social Distortion - Hard times and nursery rhymes

Tommy Stinson - One Man Mutiny

Nicke Borg - Chapter 2 (with the great Eurovision-song Leaving Home  hihi)

At first I didn't think that many great rock albums came out this year, but in compiling this list, I realised that we did indeed get some gems released in 2011

Anthrax - Worship Music
Chickenfoot - III
Chris Cornell - Songbook
Duff McKagan's Loaded - The Taking
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Machine Head - Unto The Locust
Megadeth - Th1rt3en
Sixx:AM - This Is Gonna Hurt
Sebastian Bach - Kicking And Screaming
Slash - Live, Made in Stoke

Honorable mention:
Metallica - Beyond Magnetic EP (their saving grace after the Lulu fiasco hihi)

It's not been as good a year as 2010 for me as far as albums go. Off the top of my head, the only ones I bought were the albums by Beady Eye, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Avril Lavigne (fuck you, I like her Smiley), Radiohead and Evanescence. I also bought the Lou Reed/Metallica one which I haven't got around to listening to yet. I'm not sure it's going to be quite as terrible as people are making out but we'll see.

Like with most new albums, I haven't listened to them enough to rank them but I'd say that either Liam or Noel's efforts were the best. Smiley

No, it's even worse than that... hihi
I'm a huge Metallica fan, and this is the first album from them I haven't bought.

To be fair though, having seen some live performance tv appearances from them playing songs from the album, I think I kinda get what the were going for, it just doesn't translate in the studio.
Check out the Live on Jools Holland performances on youtube, Metallica are rocking really hard, and Lou Reed is just trying to keep up!

Slash  - Live in Stoke
Rise Against - Endgame
The Lonely Island - Turtleneck and Chain
Sixx A.M. - This Is Gonna Hurt
Cicada - Sunburst
Zomboy - Game Time
Jane's Addiction - The Great Escape Artist
The Black Keys - El Camino

I think this year finally killed "the album", expect more and more singles coming up in the future.
