I would have pasted the the whole thing but it was more than a 1000 words so I just posted the link.  I really dug the whole story.

This is a really good article, surprising to see it on the GNR myspace though...

Great read. And speaking for myself here, I'm right there with him on the Cobain thing. Nirvana is a decent band, but Axl has always, always spoken to me and for me WAAAAAY more than Cobain ever did or could. And I am from Seattle people.

He's a writer who writes horror story books.

I just read it again.  I wasn't as reckless as this guy during the time period AFD hit music stores but I was close.  His story is basically the same as my story from beginning to end.  I was 17 when AFD came out.  I had been on my own since I was 16.  I've been in houses like that.

As crazy as it may sound, GNR helped me through the times I found myself associated with houses and groups like the ones this writer described.

Awesome read. And I agree with the guy who said Axl has been the voice for him. Axl totally saved me in a way back during my first year of high school. "Welcome to the jungle/It gets worse here everday"? Oh hell yeah, took the words right outta my mouth.  hihi

Thats a good read, cheers. The bit about Razzle from HR reminds me of the day his death was announced in my local newspaper. He came from the Isle of Wight and is buried here, I think it would be awsome should Axl do the IoW festival, as he could visit the grave of somebody who played a part in forming the ambitions of himself.  Razzle is buried is in a town called Binstead, I can't remember the name of the church, but is a lovely place nonetheless and is a fitting place for anybody to buried. The Isle of wight is a small place, and Binstead is about 5 miles from the festival site.

Yes, thankyou for your story. While I have never done drugs in my life, your words rang true for me as well. I listen to Chinese democracy every day! It'a all I listen to right now. Some of you may laugh, but I have become totally hooked on the TWILIGHT books, and I swear, THIS I LOVE could be Edward's theme song!

Hey Bryan.

That was weird to read such a parallel journey.  My story has a different ending, though.  For me, Chinese Democracy nudged slightly ahead of AFD, as my #1.  It has alot to do with the anticipation for this one and all of the invested energy.  I felt redeemed when it turned out to be so mindblowing.  Kind of like searching for a treasure chest for over 10 years and finding that illusive box to be filled with more than you had hoped for.  Way more.

Chinese Democracy inspires me more than AFD.  I would say that Appetite For Destruction saved my life on some level.  I had something to look forward to back then, or else I may have completely given up on this life.  Sounds awfully dramatic, and I'm not one for drama, but its the truth.

I'm in a much better place now in my life than I was during the AFD days.  I may not need CD to take me places away from where I am, like AFD did, but this new record reaches deeper into me than their debut.

Although I'm not into reading horror stories, it is my opinion that you are a good writer.  You just might be the Tom Robbins of horror stories.

I figured that you have probaly been to this site a time or two.  I myself am a long time lurker.  Your story is fuckin alwesome.  I couldn't stop readin.  I'm startin to wonder if I'll ever be able to take chinese democracy out of my cd player.  It is one of those albums that grows and grows on you.  We come from 2 different worlds but we do share GN'R in common.  Gn'R and Axl have and speak for any mood that I could ever be in.

Great article. Chinese Democracy really does grow on you with each listen. So many layers to it, each time you catch something new. No one but Axl makes music like that anymore.
