Jarmo- You hacked into my account, man. I never requested it. You hacked into my account and gave me one...Nice guy!..You should really let the other people here know that you have access to their accounts and you can hack into them if you want to, just like you did to me...

%ibelieveinaxl%

You don't know what hacking means!

It's a feature built into the board software. Admins can change users' custom titles, avatars and e-mail addresses. Meaning your account/profile settings.

It doesn't mean I did something illegal to access your account. Which is what hacking is.

To accuse me of breaking the law just to change your custom title and being accused of violating the personal integrity of the boards' users is something I find quite insulting.

I expect to see an apology from you on this matter.

thanks for explaining to me what hacking is. jarmo, you hacked my account, period. you accessed my personal setttings and added text that i did not put there, nor did i ask you for it. so, in all fairness, just let everyone know you can access their accounts. and as to whether what you did is illegal, are you an attorney now? i think i know that area a bit better than you do....

You are banned for insulting me for the last time.

I don't take these kinds of issues lightly.

I don't hack into people's accounts period. To accuse me of doing that is very insulting.

It's a built in feature of the board software. The administrators have control of the board. Why else would there be administrators.

I can change the account settings. I can also see your IP# and e-mail address (even though you might have selected it to be hidden).

It's not a secret.

Get down from your "I'm a lawyer" high horse.  ok

Go tell your friends I banned you because you disagree with me. As usual, the facts are right here.

Edit: I also accessed your account settings to set your member group to Banned. Same thing as changing your custom title.

Jarmo, maybe you should allow everyone to change everyone's title that way ibelieveinaxl can change yours and you can change his.  Right now its like you two are boxing and he has both his hands tied behind his back.

Jarmo, you "can" do anything you want to anyone's profile.  Does that mean you should?  What if a fellow admin posted under your name as a joke, "I like little boys".  Would you take that personal?  Just saying it can be a slippery slope if someones personal info on their "profile" is changed with no warning.

First option would not work. Total anarchy does not work.

Second option has a point. But I don't do "anything".

Sometimes I remove avatars because I don't think hate propaganda and porn has a place here. I guess I should allow people to use that kind of avatars because you don't approve of me adjusting somebody's personal profile?

But did his custom title mention anything out of the ordinary? Did it make him look like a pedophile? It's a GN'R song lyric that I think applies to him. It's meant as a joke as most titles.

People say or do something stupid, and they get a custom title.

Often people like him who are poked fun at, PM me and ask me to remove the title. It's no big deal, shows that they can't laugh at themselves.

But he started accusing me of hacking his account. Like I was breaking the law or something.

It's all his agenda of making me look bad. I don't need his help with that.  hihi

Talking of having hands tied.

Either I let the assholes take over or I ban them, meaning I have a bunch of assholes hating me.

Which one do you think I picked?

What he is saying, Ali, is that you always take a certain gentleman's side and you always do not take another gentleman's side, regardless of what the topic is.

Untrue.?

Slash is my favorite guitar player of all time and I have bought every release he has been on post-GN'R the day it was released.? That will never change.? Not ever.  I will defend him on all musical issues and will always argue that he is the best lead guitarist in rock history.  But, I wonder about the accuracy of a lot of what he said in the book because of what I know and what other people have said, most notably Duff McKagan.

And unproven allegations about Axl being physically abusive have zero to do with Slash.

Jarmo ... I'm not bringing the Slash assault charges up because I'm not trying to have a battle of Gods like you are.? I know that those charges were brought ... but my point was to highlight something.

You know ... Axl might have been innocent.? That's not the point.? as JimBobTTD pointed out, I was merely trying to prove a point.? And Ali couldn't see past his need to argue Axl's defence, and lost the point.? JimBobTTD saw it.? It wasn't a 'who is better' ... but a 'who can't stop defending for the sake of defending'.

Please don't try and argue this post with me as you likely will want to ... there IS no argument to be had.? I was stating a point.? Not arguing.

You completely missed my point, sir.

You were bringing up an unproven allegation that is obviously a very sensitive and emotionally charged issue, that of domestic abuse, about Axl in order to provoke a reaction from someone who you believe worships the ground Axl walks on, Jarmo.? This was in the same post where you claimed he likes to stir shit up.? That is exactly what you were doing in bringing up something that everyone here knows damn well was never proven, stirring shit up.? You were being completely hypocritical, at least that's how it seemed to me.? That is what I was arguing.?

At least until it degenerated into me having to explain why I found their claims lacking in credibility, including a reference to the Kobe Bryant case, and why my beliefs had NOTHING to do with Axl but with the circumstances involving the allegations and history behind/involving them.

Ok, just to elaborate more on Duff's little comment, I thought this was interesting and, I might add, a very good point made by Duff.  You have to listen through until the very end.

He didn't.  But, he seemed to be able to appreciate the fact that it was Slash's version and just that, not a blow by blow account of exactly how everything went down.  That's all.  If all 5 original members put a book out, you'd have 5 different versions of what happened, guaranteed.

LMAO!? Thanks for posting Lynn! I think my fave part is when Slash said he wasn't there for the "She's Mine" shoot, and Duff is like "huh, yeah you were, " and Slash was like, "no, dude, I left, " and duff says, "huh, I don't remember that!" They crack me up!

Duff's trying to be nice.....

Duff: It's hilarious because there's an unspoken thing, with all of us. Matt seems to remember everything, but Slash and I go back just a few more years than when Matt came in. But Slash and I have never really talked about our memories of how this happened or that happened. It's just something we just don't do., So here's the book and I'm... And I just assumed my memory was the worst. [Slash laughs] I just assumed that 'cause I thought I'd probably done the most damage and umm probably Slash thought the same thing and whatever. So I'm reading the book, and I'm going "that's not how that happened. I don't think...." And you know, couple of times I talked to him about it and said is that how it happened and he goes "I don't know, it's how I remember it." [Slash laughs]

And that's the most important thing. For me it was a great... To read that book because I got insight, you know I was there, but I got insight into what Slash was actually thinking, or how he remembers it. Which is great. I thought it was a great book, it was really fun read for me to read, and I read a lot anyhow.. So, uuhhh... I thought it was... Really, uhhhh... Really....

Matt: It reminded you of  a lot of stuff.... [grinning] Right?

Duff: Uhhhh.. Yeah [Matt laughs out loud]

Matt: He... Slash referred to me as Matt Sorum because they got first names.. You know, Axl, Slash, Duff.. Matt Sorum! [laughs out loud] I noticed that, that's the only thing I noticed. The rest of it was cool.

I think that Duff is being nice in the sense that he doesn't come off as though he believes Slash deliberately misrepresented past events.  He just doesn't agree with his account of how things happened without that disagreement having any malice behind it.

Duff is simply saying that it's Slash's feelings and memories of the events.  I bet Duff's wouldn't match Axl's and Axl's wouldn't match Slash's and Slash's wouldn't match Steven's etc ....

Thats what memories are.  I bet you a lot of people here remember shit wrong or in their own way and would stand by what they said and be sure they were right.

Simply because Slash did it, and sure, he got some stuff wrong, but he's one man ... he's one mind ... he's done his best and written a fucking brilliant book.  But because it was Slash, he gets his ass kicked by everyone.

Crazy.

Duff is saying that he appreciates the book for the insight it provided into Slash's feelings and perspective of certain events.  But, he is also saying that he doesn't agree with Slash's account of how certain things happened.

Slash set himself up for criticism by saying he was setting the record straight on what happened with GN'R while also acknowledging he doesn't remember a large portion of what transpired during the days he was in GN'R.  Additionally, he has also made mulitple factual errors and his recounting of certain events is questionable or incorrect.  Simply put, you cannot set the record straight on certain events unless you have your facts straight.

None of that is to say that Slash is deliberately misrepresenting certain events in any way.  Nor is it saying that the book is worthless as a whole.  It's just to say that the book is not accurate enough to be taken as a record straightening account of what happened with GN'R.

at least he is opened enough to give the old band fans some insight look. there is so much stuff in there we never have been told before. though through errors here and there i've enjoyed this book a lot, it also backs up a lot what i've feared was going on back then. and as much i would like to read or watch more of that from other members aswell....i'm not expecting any other release "as a record straightening account of what happened with GN'R", so i'm happy about this one.

thank you, Slash!
