Not really a huge rap/hip-hop fan, but I do like some artists.

I love Public Enemy and N.W.A, and liked Dre, Ice Cube, 2-Pac, Ice-T, Snoop, Eazy-E and a few others.

However, when I hear people blasting rap music from their cars, or hear it on MTV, I loathe 99% of what I hear. It's just fucking awful, generic, soulless shit.

Opinions?

Not really a huge rock fan, but I do like some artists.

I love Guns N' Roses and Metallica, and liked Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, The Smashing Pumpkins and a few others.

However, when I hear people blasting rock music from their cars, or hear it on MTV, I loathe 99% of what I hear. It's just fucking awful, generic, soulless shit.

^  Amazing how easy that was... If you actually enjoy the genre, there is quality music out there.  "Awful, generic, soulless shit" isn't limited to one genre.   ok

What's Good:  Lupe Fiasco, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Outkast, Blackalicious ... and of course you've got the classics:  Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash, Eric B. & Rakim, Naughty By Nature, Wu Tang, A Tribe Called Quest, Biggie, 2 Pac, Nas, Jay-Z (his first album, Reasonable Doubt, is one of the most solid rap CDs I've heard)

What's Shit:  Anything that starts with "Lil'", "Young", or "T-"something....  Tongue

... and I know Kanye get shit on a lot, but he's easily the most creative producer out there right now.

Dr. Dre has fantastic beats, i love Chronic and Chronic 2001.

Eminem is great but his last album sucked.

i don't reall listen to either that much anymore, but i'd definitely be interested if Dr. Dre ever released DETOX, which has become the Chinese Democracy of the rap world haha.

I really like Wu-Tang and Eminem.

I've got to be honest that I really never gave the genre a chance, since most of the rap and hip-hop that gets air time is crap.

But there's always time for more, new music...

I'm all over the place when it comes to rap and hip-hop.  Early De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, NWA, Kayne West, Eminem, Dre, and Public Enemy about sum it up for me.

the little rap i do like is Eminem, most deff (sp?), dre, snoop, tu-pac, the notorious B-I-G, and wu-tang. Allthough i don't have any CDs of theres i think that these are really the best in the business that have to much pride to sell out to MTV.

wu-tang clan aint nottin' to fuck with

peace
