Bon Jovi kills RATT.  RATT can't even headline their own nostalgia tours, playing second fiddle to Poison.  I saw Bon Jovi headline a few years back, in support of the first of way too many shitty new albums aimed at little girls).  Most of it was the good stuff, though.

well, when they havent put out an album since 99, but that album never got any pushing anyway, so 91 and they havent really toured as the full original line up. one member is dead the bassist isnt in them, i can see why.

there albums are far more powerful than bon jovi, they just rock.

Fair point, though I think their (RATT's) albums kind of suck.

I'm from NJ all my life, right by where Jon grew up. I don't like most pop-hair metal sounding stuff from the eighties but I have to admit I rock out to some old school Jon Bon Jovi. Maybe it's the water. That being said, I think everything Bon Jovi have done over the past ten years is total garbage. It's soccor mom music. It should be played in elevators and dentists offices. The worst offense to my ears being "Who says you can't go home". And I'm from Jersey for christs Sake! As for Van Halen never got too into them. Always thought Ed was an amazing talent but his playing sounds emotionless. Lot of fun some of the roth era stuff.
I think it's a draw
both bands started out ok but then just got more and more watered down when there wasn't that much there to begin with.

That's how I feel about them.

Of course in highschool (back in the late 80's  ) Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet, was the shit, hands down. I had liked some of their work prior to that, but knew little about the band (it wasn't like you could get online in those days, you would just go by what you saw on Friday Night Videos, rare newspaper articles and HS rumors.) Their follow up album was great, and was in our collection of music we drove around and listened to-it was very well received.

Nothing since then (New Jersey?) has been very inspiring to me. It came across as something you hear while waiting for your teeth to get drilled on. While I do not deny their talent, and am sure some of their tunes are very "poppy" and catchy, they haven't done a thing for me since about 1989.
