Ya know, here in Down Under, we are all alittle bit confused about American pizzas. Funny that!

Thats coz our Pizzas are shit. Look at the big cheesey pizza in USA and look at ours. But There was a bloke in tamworth who owned Steve's Pizza. That was the best, he used kebab meat on it

 peace

I remember seeing pizza advertised as "NYC style" pizza in Surfers Paradise, it was like $10 a slice! haha

Yeh, they are cheesy (in excess - just like America!!)......and runny......

The kebab pizza sounds nice.

In Melbourne, I tried a tasty hallal pizza done in the Lebanese way. TASTY TOO!

A few thoughts:

I really like NY style pizza.  Thin, floppy slices, not too much sauce, and delicious grease.  Perfect.  I know that's sacrilegious for a Midwesterner, but the deep dish Chicago style isn't my thing.  I like it on occasion, and it has the advantage of being able to handle more and bigger toppings, but generally I prefer the thin.  If I want sausage, that's when I go thick, because the thick can handle the BIG hunks of sausage, but usually I want plain cheese, and NY style is perfect for that.  So, as much as East Coast snobbery annoys the hell out of me, I give them big points for the pizza.

I'm generally against "California style" pizzas, which means taking off the good stuff (pepperoni, sausage, etc.) and putting on nasty stuff that doesn't belong on a pizza.  I'm sure, right now, some douchebag is eating a California style tofu and dolphin-safe tuna pesto pizza, with a cranberry reduction.   Cry  Poor bastard.

As for chains, I find that Pizza Hut varies a GREAT deal, depending on where you live.  On the north side of Indy, the Pizza Huts are pretty good, but a lot of other places they really suck.  And their breadsticks change, depending on location.  Most have those crappy, medium-dark brown rectangular breadsticks, with marinara dipping sauce.  Fuck that!  In Indy they have fluffy, fresher tasting breadsticks, with fucking nacho cheese, as was mandated by God, in the book of Genesis.

Home oven pizzas have improved dramatically during my lifetime.  They used to blow, but my wife and I have one/week (usually).  The Freschetta Brick Oven style are pretty good, and are probably my favorites for home cookin'.

I also like a good white pizza, but haven't had one in a while, as nowhere around here seems to have them.  But you can also get some pretty crappy whites.  I knew someone who thought a white pizza had ranch dressing on it.   no

Yep Have tried all kinds of pizza from New york pizza but I just don't like it...I feel those kind of Pizza shops are just another form of fast food which I usually do not like...

I guess I just prefer pizzas which are made in traditional pizzerias...

There is certainly fast food pizza, which is generally gross, and NY pizza has a tendency to be eaten "on the go."  But I'm willing to bet that the US has more traditional pizzerias than any other country on this pizza lovin' planet.  So give us another shot, won't you?

They've been advertising non-stop here in central Illinois, though we don't have one in Champaign, where I currently live.  They DO have one in Danville, IL, and also on the North side of Indy.  As it's $5.99 and my wife is going back to school, I'm sure we'll be frequent patrons.  Grin

I'm in Florida and we have CiCi's here too. Its $3.99 for all you can eat. It is shit and all the fat rednecks take their 7 children there for dinner.

We also have Uno's which has Chicago style deep dish pizza. Its pretty good, but not sure how it compares to pizza actually from Chicago. Ill find out when I goo to Chicago next month on business.

Still love the NY pizza best though.

One thing I've learned is that the major chains like Pizza Hut and Dominos deliver over priced cold soggy pizzas (unless you dine in), while my local pizzeria delivers excellent pizzas at half the price.
