The original's lyrics seem to flow smoothly, like one single idea. The alt. version just seems unnatural to me for some reason.

if there hadn't been 2 versions, do you think there would have been one long version. Maybe Don't Cry was just one long sog. I think it works better divided into 2 versions. I like them both

I can think of a few reasons why, and It has nothing to do with Finks ability. Don't Cry sounds great on the UYI album, but has never sounded great performed, 'live from a vocal point of view', as Axl doesn't appear to be able to sing the word 'Cry' loudly. That's my take on it

I love them both. For some reason the alternate lyrics are more appealing to me. But, I listen to the original more because I find it easier to sing along to (badly) in the shower.

Its hard to say , but I think I love more alt lyrics , IMO they are more deep 
and I think when Axl  singed the alt lyrics it sounded more powerful

Ensename A Amarte by Roca Eterna claimed to be where this song was 'stolen' from, and if you listen to it, you can't help but deny there's certainly a lot of similarities!

and by the band you mean Axl...since at this point he more then likely owned the rights to the name following the 'Mr Brownstone' incident in LA in 1989

orig is cooler IMO...i dont think the lyrics flow as well in the alt version...though to be fair it was almost oof the cuff if i recall the interviews properly
