I believe they averaged 8600 on the 16 US dates in 2002- Undecided The shows were clearly better in 06 (better reviews and performance) but the numbers are about the same.

That's fantastic news...imagine what the tours will be like once CD is released.

And is it me, or is that a period in the thread title instead of a comma?? I originally looked into the thread because I thought it was $500 gross per show...? ? ?Shocked

More American vs. the rest of the world problems hihi ?In Europe, they use a . between thousands and , between dollars and cents. ?Americans are of course backwards hihi

actually it says shows in north america...GnR played 38 shows in north america (not including the rosario dawson Bday PArty)

in a similar story, GnR didnt make the top 25 for 2006 tours

Quote
Top 10 concert tours of 2006

Rolling Stones: $138.5
Barbra Streisand: $92.5
Tim McGraw/Faith Hill:  $88.8
Madonna: $85.9
Cirque Du Soleil - ?Delirium?: $82.1
Celine Dion: $78.1
Kenny Chesney: $66.0
Bon Jovi: $59.7
Dave Matthews Band: $51.3
Elton John: $48.9

Source: Pollstar. All figures in millions of dollars.

and 38 shows @ $500,380 per show puts them @ about $19M which is nowhere close to the top 10

GN'R played over 70 shows last year, and I'm assuming the more popular European tour, who also had all the festivals, generated more per night than in NA. With a rough minimum GN'R then generated 40$ million in revenue in 2006. How much of that is left I leave to someone else to answer. But it's a pretty good figure, considering.

This, while a funny statement, is a great point.

GN'R hardly did anything for this tour and did surprisingly well.

When the time comes they will do amazing.

Whats really insane is looking at that list and the avg. ticket price for all the shows.

So fucking expensive!!!   Undecided

over $100 for Elton John!  Does he do your dishes after the show?

Well, it's a concert in an arena...  Compare it to the prices of hockey and basketball tickets at the same arena and it's not that ridiculous.  It will obviously be more than a 1,000-2,000 seat club show, and I don't find the $30-$50 prices for those to be too out of control.  Throw in the fact that Elton John is a big time musician and that price seems about right.

Yeah, ticket prices are way outta control. GNR's is about average. I remember going to concerts in the early 90s for $20-$25. Can't do that now, unless it's Buckethead at a club for $15.

That's an average of around 8400 people at each show..

And with no new album or single out during the tour and little promotion, I think that is still pretty damn good. Imagine what they can do once the album comes out and the major promotion kicks in!

Exactly.

But the 'Tool' thing kind of hurt...  Undecided

If you are talking about Tool the band, they were promoting a new album with their original lineup. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

To say they averaged 10000 out of those numbers is pretty stupid.
Do the very simple math and you?ll see they averaged 'bout 8400

I couldn't find the original post on poolstar, but I believe this is a week to week poll.  The poll at the top of the thread is not the entire year.  It also mentions something about the previous weeks spot(12).  Otherwise this would read that they were 12th in 2005.  I would like to see the complete original poll with it's release date.  The Elton John shows are probably just the Las Vegas shows.  I have seen this poll many times and unforutnately, it is usually dominated by Celine Dion with her Las Vegas shows at over $250 per ticket.
