I remember being 4 years old in the toddler walker, being unhappy until my parents put on the Sweet Child of Mine on the AFD cassette. I have many family videos of me as a whiny little fuckin brat bouncing up and down in a good mood suddenly, once the SCOM opening riff hits on the tape deck...ahh, tha old dayzzzz

It's gotta be listening to UYI I & II on my mom's stereo system for the first time.  She bought it for me because I was too young.  Should've seen the look on her face when it got to GET IN THE RING for the first time.  Hehe.  Priceless.

KAWUGI!

« Reply #326 on: March 08, 2006, 05:24:16 AM »

Oh ye gods.

The last weeks I refused to listen to more than "Better" and "IRS", but
the days of waiting got me so far that I was on the brink of listening to
TWAT or CITR.

But there never was the right moment.

So picture this: I, 28yr old, longhaired guy, had a few hard days in the
last time - career stuff, unclear future, normal stuff. So, two hours ago
or so, I was in quite a depressed mood and sat on a graveyard in the
middle of Hannover, Germany (NO, no big deal - I just like the silence? Wink).
I skipped around the tracks on my MP3player, to find something to fit? my
mood. I already had TWAT on this, but had skipped it all the time.

And so I sat there, on this graveyard, in the falling snow, a cigarette in my
hands and thought - "Hell, when, if not now?"

And believe it or not - the first part was disturbing and I was sittin' there,
wondering "wtf?"

THEN with the beginning of the piano, the snow stopped.

And THEN with last part, the sun came out of the clouds.

I really was stunned and my quarterlife-crisis never had the slightest chance.
Jebus, I felt like reborn. I really FELT how the music flowed through me and filled
me up. And never stopped listening to the song since that.

What an experience.? smoking

I remember I used to tape the Pepsi Power Hour on MuchMusic with this little ghetto blaster...they played "Jungle" and I fuckin' loved that song...I remember playing it over and over again...the quality was horrible but I loved it.  i went out and bought "Appetite" and it blew my mind...I was fourteen and it had just come out...I even thought that Slash was the one doing lead vocals on "It's So Easy" and "Mr. Brownstone" because the vocals sounded so different...then I got to see them live in Halifax N.S. in May of 88'.  The guy sitting beside me was like "Who are Guns N' Roses?"  (they were opening for Iron Maiden at the time)  ...and then the band was introduced and they broke into "It's So Easy" and I was blown away cause it was Axl singing the song.  Great show; Axl was introducing "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"  and he was dedicating it to a friend who had passed away and he stopped and said "Well you can suck my dick faggot" to some guy in the crowd and then looked like he was going to jump in the audience (things haven't changed  Cheesy) but didn't and then they went on with the song. Fun Stuff! ok

1) When I moved to Virginia in seventh grade and my brother handed me the "Appetite For Destruction" CD, the next day I asked him for "Use Your Illusion"
2) When I first really sat down and listened to "Estranged"
3) When I saw Guns N Roses perform on the 2002 VMAs
4) When I stumbled upon the "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" video from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert
5) When I found out Slash was getting together with Scott Weiland, Duff and Matt for "Velvet Revolver"

Must have been when i first saw the "you could be mine" video on a tv show. Back then i wasn't really interested in music and was just letting the show be on 'cause i didn't really have anything else to do. But "you could be mine" really caught my attention, and i spent the next day just waiting for it to appear again. But that wasn't enough so i bought Use your illusion II. That really got me into music. And has meant a lot to me in the last few years.
