nah, that doesnt work like that

then I should be paying the band every time I sing welcome to the jungle, or every tribute band will be paying them...

you can play what ever song you want live.
but the problem appears when you start selling it in diferent medias, tape, cd, dvd

No, he's right.  If the songs are performed live, the writers are paid.

There's an organisation that collects the money in each country.  Usually a small club (where tribute bands generally play..) will just pay a fixed amount to the organisation per year.

"The deal covers both future material and catalogue. Rose's contribution to such hits as "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Paradise City" and "November Rain" are covered under the deal, as are dozens of new tracks Rose has recently recorded for Universal Music."

I wonder how a DVD with mostly old songs played by new band members will be recieved with the general buying public?

If it was a DVD with mostly new songs I think GNR would sell the DVD better.  But hey, thats just me. Undecided

 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? As long as I can get the CD then a CD/DVD combo fits in where technology is going . If thats the case Axl's a shrewd guy to do that.

well this is a good reason why he is wearing th same clothes so maybe since House of Blues was proshot maybe this could be a double dvd release since axl did say 2002 was like a "warm-up" tour or something like that and this was his plan to have both combacks be released at the same time like the double dvd of UYI.

Just a thought?

Releasing a DVD before the album is a stupid idea. Who's going to buy a DVD other than us? The general public will look at it and go "Look it's Axl and the other guys who aren't Slash playing GNR's greatest hits" and then they won't buy it. As a huge fan of this band, I would feel like an idiot buying it if it was released before Chinese Democracy.

i would have to agree altough i still would buy it. the dvd should come out after cd. maybe christmas ? it def. would sell more if released after cd so more of the general public would be apt to buy it. that in turn would spark more interest in seeing gn'r live when they start a new leg of the tour.

On the topic of DVD's - Its possible that GNR at Hammerstein can be released in Dec/Jan.

Korn performed at Hammerstein in Nov 2005 to start supporting new album.
DVD to be released of that performance on June 20, 2006.   ok
