In But come on... "Velvet Revolver" seems nothing more than a twist on "Guns N' Roses" to me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one in the world who thinks that.

Anyhoo, Axl's back because it's time.

Even the name they had for a few weeks/months before the official was Reloaded if memory serves me right. Sure it sounds a lot like Duff's Loaded project, but Reloaded brings up images of guns. They really can't stay away from that name. I guess they regret selling it.

I think we owe the return of Axl Rose to Axl Rose.

Let's face it, the man is getting older before he's getting any younger...

Probably late 2005 he work up one morning and said fuck dude, Im going to be 44 in February...time to put all my baggage and skeletons back in the closest, burn the oversized jerseys, get on the most "rock star" outfit I can find and do what I was put on this earth to do... ok

Explains to me why he resurffaced so damn early this year...

If the timing wasn't right in 2002, it certainly must be now because we haven't had a month of silence since January now Cheesy

I think it's pretty obvious, but when I said this on here I pretty much got insulted by someone who said I had to stop over analysing things.  Roll Eyes

you cant deny that i smust have pissed axl off big time to see the success of VR with? some fake ass poser singer with AXl's guitar player and bassist and and drummer even playing some GNR songs.....It must have made him crazy with anger and i would not blame him one bit

I would think that Axl got past the other members no longer being in GN'R long ago.? Before VR ever came into being.?

No

I think he was ready to roll in 2002 for the most part, but obviously had to improve physically.

Axl has stated that he was pressured into the 2002 tour.? So, evidently he wasn't "ready to roll."

I'm pretty sure I wrote " for the most part ", but I'll say it again. I think he was pretty much ready to roll " for the most part ". He did manage to do some good shows during that tour, MSG being one of them. The fact that he was pressured may be true, but I don't see what or who could've really put any more pressure on the guy. Even in 2002 you're still talking 10 years or so since the last album. He said that, because he still hasn't really explained what happened after the MSG show. So I'm not buying that he was some kind of un-willing participant in that tour. The guy does what he wants, when he want, in case you never noticed. peace

Maybe he's back because he needs it. The return is his own I guess... The way I see it - new GNR performance, his performance and so on, all show that Axl enjoys what he does. There's a lot of tension around, probably some people want him to fail but I think he hasn't give up yet... Don't you think?

This is a bit off-topic, but I've noticed in many various threads where people mention Axl's jersey-wearing ways as being a negative. What's wrong with a guy wearing jerseys?? I always thought he looked really cool in them.

Emotionally he seems confident and focused, but in the world that is Axl Rose, who's to say where it is all coming from

Velvet Revolver's pretty good, but nothing Earth Shattering going on there. I think Axl knew his record was better earlier on, and it did'nt really matter when he made his comeback in relation to VR

Good question though

Interesting, so you're suggesting that he waited till now to get things going, because he wanted to get in shape?

I think there was a huge underlying issue as to why we didn't get what we are getting now in 2002 that we may never know about.. who knows, maybe Bh was causing a lot of tension in the band, maybe Axl was going through some personal issues, maybe Axl figured after 10 shows that C.D wasn't ready and the tour was pointless....

Velvet Revolver?Huh

Maybe it is true that the success of VR gave AXL  a kick in the ass to get things going again.....I think we are all in agreement that this is the most legit GNR and AXL since 1993.......His voice is back, he got his aura back, he is reuniting with old friends from back in the day (izzy, sebastian) touring some venues that he hasnt played since back in the day (nyc clubs, acoustic show, donington, hammersmith) It is obvious AXL is taking this  a TON more serious then the 2002 fiasco...............Do we owe thanks to VR.....If it wasnt for them Axl might still be in his cave
Fuck no. Axl doesn't give two flying shits about VR.

All credit to Axl.

He seems happier now. Happy to be playing, happy to be out there.  Smiley

And the band seems to be happy to be out playing (except when you throw stuff at Tommy!).

Not really. I do think it played a small part into how he viewed himself as a perfectionist and a performer though. Obviously, a healthier guy now, he seems to have a lot more energy & enthusiasm.

Definitely. There's always going to be some mystery about that 2002, I think
