This is what I would do if I where Axl with the Album.

- I would release Better as the first Single and have it on radio and MTV mid July

- Then FINALLY release the album end of sept first week of october.

- keep touring come and have Catcher In the Rye as the second single ( I love this song and I hope it makes the album)as the second single

- make some public appearences with the band maybe a cover of Rolling Stone with the new bad right before the album is released bunch of promotion stuff NO TRL !!!!

- keep touring around US Canada and have the third release single IRS hopefully by then all the haters will go away and GUNS N ROSES will reign supreme once again.

Cacther in the Rye is great, but The Blues, or Madagascar would work more as the 2nd single

A song we havent heard needs to be the first single, a rocker especially. Better is too poor of a live song I think as well.

I agree, except instead of Chinese Democracy as the third single i'd go with T.W.A.T. Hell i'd even have that as the second single and move Blues down to the third.. but i'm biased cuz I love the song

Better works fine Live and is almost everyones favorite song, plus it works well as the first single.. I don't think they should use any other song, but thats just my opinion

Better is not a poor live song, it's just not as powerful as the studio version which could be beacuse Buckethead is not present among many other things.

I agree with your single choices.  It might not be a bad idea to release IRS as a single before Better with no video just to create some anticipation and then release Better with a video for a full on promotion.  They really should have released IRS as an iTunes single and maybe even get it on a movie soundtrack this summer similar to the way You Could Be Mine was used for T2.   It was climbing some stations playlist as a bootleg demo, it was a perfect time to create some buzz for the new album and new band without doing any real damage, IRS would have received huge airplay on modern and mainstream rock stations

Most people haven't heard Better.  The only people who have are diehard fans of GnR that will buy the album anyway and the ultimate purpose of a single is to bring attention to the band and get people to buy the album.  Better in a lot of ways reminds me of SCOM, with that distinctive opening riff and as this song that somehow has this pop appeal and still manages to kick ass at the same time.  Obviously Better and SCOM are incredibly different musically but they are similar in their vibe and spirit

Yes. But I do think Better is a perfect single, just not the first.

Catcher In The Rye? No fucking way. It's a good song but nothing that's going to get peoples attention as a single. It should be a nice surprise for a non GNR fan who's listening to the album for the first time. Like a "Wow, I wasn't expecting this" It's also a song that grows on you.
