The New album is very bad...very commercial.

What the hell does that mean? Don't tell me, your 16 and thats the word being used in the playground. 'Commercial' would mean designed to be successful - like power ballads like Sweet Child O'mine, November Rain etc!

But wait, u don't consider GNR to be commercial Roll Eyes What the hell do u think tracks like Patience are - deliberately accesible radio friendly singles!

Doesn't affect their quality.

Maybe its a mute point, but have u even heard this album?

Apparently with Head gone, the song structure is really, really poor

Well ''apparently'' i own the album and thats nonsense, I don't really notice much difference between this and their other albums in terms of arrangement and production

Quote
and the drums and guitars are almost none existent in portions of the record.

Ur right - there is this ''gap'' between tracks where there are no guitars or drums at all Roll Eyes

Its full of intresting riffs and thumping drums - i hadn't actually paid any attention to the drumming work untill just now, and its really good, perfectly fits the song.

There are even subtle guitar solos Shocked

All Korn's albums are a good listen - but many take time to appreciate, many of their songs are not very accesible at first

The first album u should get is their superb Best of released last year. Its a shame ''It's on!'' wasn't included but it covers so much of their best work, follow up buy should be 'Follow the leader' and 'See you on the other side'

I actually got into Korn through Untouchables...really great record. Next Id recommend Issues, eventhough it gets a bad rep, followed by 'Leader, first album and then the brilliant Life is Peachy. That one takes a while to get into, but when it hits you after a shitty day you fucking wanna break some shit.

I hated Take a Look in the Mirror, just a horrible, lazy ass record.

As Slash once said, Korn has no melody, sounds like the inside of a meatgringer.

My step-dad once asked me if Korn just threw their instruments down the stairs and hit the record button, and what they got they put a big parental advisory sticker on and sold to "the angry kids". rofl

Guns n Roses ballads arnt your usually bullshit bon jovi ballad mate.

Go listen to that album, its a pile of shit, 2 good songs, the rest are like listening to something at a disco, not heaby, dull and boring, they tried to do dance rock and just havent succeeded. Commercial means other things other than how many radio hits they get, its when a band go for a weak crap sound for money.

Open Up and Love Song are two of the best Korn songs Ive ever heard and yes they are on the new record.

I recommend goin for the Greatest Hits when u are tryin to discover any band u havent previously listened to, that way u get an overview of their catalog and if u like it, u can buy the albums and discover other hidden gems.

Korn are not easily digestable bullshit though, if u buy this record, u better give it 4 or 5 listens through before judging it, cause they have difficult melodies that arent easily discovered on the first couple listens. Korn sound like a big pile of noise sometimes on the first listen, but after a few times through it clears up and u can make everything out and its simply amazing.

Lets not start a GNR vs Bon Jovi debate in the Korn section but honestly Bon Jovi's ballads are just as good as GNR's ballads.

Ill take Bed Of Roses,Always,Never Say Goodbye over Dont Cry or Patience any day of the week.

*THREAD JACK*

Always is a damn good song.

It almost feels like it doesn't belong in the Bon Jovi catalogue.

Like when GNR went from being an early heavy metal band to being more pop friendly under Axl's direction? Roll Eyes

There is no way in hell the new Korn album is a dance album.

That is about as bad as saying that the "Backtreet Boys " are Metal.

Listen to "Love Song" and "Open Up" these two songs alone are worth 10 bucks and are the best korn Songs Ive personally ever heard next to "I Did My Time"

Im not gonna lie im more of a new school Korn fan, i dont know much of their first couple records but I know enough to know that they didnt all of a sudden try and become Commercial or whatever the fuck that word is.

All bands are commercial or else they'd be playing coffee houses somewhere.

Before i make andy comente, i havent heard the new album, only Twisted Transistor (the video is hilarious).
I used to really like Korn, albums like Follow The Leader or Issues were great. But in my opinion they`ve lost credibility.
I mean, how can they keep writing  songs avbout the miserablel life they have millions oif dollars, tons of friends, mansions.I just dont buy the "a lonley life where no one understands you" anymore.
Question, is the guitar work really diferent now that Head is gone?

Truthfully I could tell head left the band.

i think they keep writing the way they do for a couple of reasons.

1. It's what they know .

2. they still may feel that way. Just cause you have these thing .doesn't change the fact that you still feel alonemmesirable  or that youe fell people don't understand you .
