Deep Purple Kick Off World Tour

 Brighton, U.K.'s daily newspaper The Argus reported in its Nov. 24 edition that LED ZEPPELIN stars Jimmy Page and Robert Plant came along to DEEP PURPLE's sold-out gig at the Brighton Centre last month. After being "begged to get on stage and join their old mockers," they declined, preferring to watch along with the fans.

I'm kinda shocked that Deep Purple played to a sold out show. Nothing against Deep Purple at all because I like them a lot just did not think they can still sell them out like the good old days. Does anyone know how big this stadium is? Too bad they did not go one stage and do just one or two songs with them. I don't think they will ever don anything again. They are gettign up in age.

I beg to differ.. The live videos i've seen look sold out anyway.... And the concert i went to was sold out as well... Bananas is a great album. Check it out

 According to TheHighwayStar.com, DEEP PURPLE have set the tentative track listing for their new album, "Rapture of the Deep", due on October 21 via Edel Records.

DEEP PURPLE spent five weeks at a Los Angeles studio earlier this year recording the follow-up to 2003's "Bananas" with producer Mike Bradford. The album is described by keyboardist Don Airey as "a lot heavier" than "Bananas". "We recorded it in the same studio that use to be used by KORN, and it's got a wonderful sound," Airey said. "It's got a real, immediate drum and organ sound. I was really happy working in there."

DEEP PURPLE played a secret show at London's Hard Rock Caf? on October 10, 2005, partly to launch the new album, "Rapture of the Deep", and partly to celebrate the reopening of the venue which was gutted by fire some time ago. It was an invite-only do. The concert was reportedly filmed, but it is not presently clear what the footage will be used for. DEEP PURPLE played a 65-minute set in front of just a couple of hundred people, and didn't come on until after 11:00 p.m. The group's setlist was as follows:

"Bananas" is kind of a stupid title, but that was a really good album. Some DP albums that came out in the late 80s-early 90s were kinda weak, but there last several albums have been quite strong.

DEEP PURPLE: 'Whoosh!' Album Details Revealed, European Tour Announced

DEEP PURPLE will release its new album, "Whoosh!", on June 12 via earMUSIC. The legendary rockers' 21st studio LP was once again helmed by Canadian producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, PINK FLOYD, ALICE COOPER), who also worked on DEEP PURPLE's last two studio albums, 2017's "Infinite" and 2013's "Now What?!" Together they created the most versatile album in their collaboration. DEEP PURPLE "stretched out in all directions" without any limitation, letting their creativity go.

"DEEP PURPLE is putting the Deep back into Purple" was the half-joking motto in the studio after the first songs made it clear that Ezrin and PURPLE were on their path to creating an album pushing the boundaries of time, while voicing their resentment about the current situation of the world and addressing all generations.

"Whoosh!" will be available as limited CD+DVD mediabook (including the one-hour feature "Roger Glover And Bob Ezrin In Conversation" and, for the first time, the full live performance at Hellfest 2017 as video), 2LP+DVD edition, limited boxset and digital.

"We've included everything that made the whole band smile, including Bob Ezrin. We've always enjoyed making music and having the incredible luxury of a loyal audience," said guitarist Steve Morse.

Last fall, DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover told the Chicago Sun-Times that he and his bandmates planned to keep recording new music.

"We've been working a bit," he revealed. "There's a few things around, we don't know yet what's, where, or when, but we've not stopped yet.

"There's a danger, of course, if you've become successful, that people want you to do the same thing and be successful all over again and keep going, but it doesn't work that way," he added. "You can't just simply repeat yourself."

Having released six albums since 1996, Glover said everyone in PURPLE has been committed to keeping things fresh.

"I think that there was almost an unspoken desire to move forward, to not repeat ourselves," he explained. "Of course, the players are the same, so the sounds can be the same in all the style or something like that. But as far as writing songs are concerned, I think most bands don't get the songs right. They talk about performance and hooks and stuff like that, but to me writing a song is much more than that. And we've always tried to write different songs. The danger is, of course, you become a parody of yourself if you try and copy yourself. And so, we've always tried to move on and change. It's a challenge."

DEEP PURPLE will embark on a full European tour starting in late May.
