Best (they say 2006 on imdb, but it's a 2007 release year for most of us)

Still Life - Sanxia haoren-? (http://imdb.com/title/tt0859765/)
Tuya's Marriage - Tuya de hun shi - (http://imdb.com/title/tt0949564/)
Summer Palace -?Yihe yuan? - (http://imdb.com/title/tt0794374/)

> 3 asians movies, that says a lot on how the western cinema is doing. International festivals clearly showed that.

edit: oh yeah, i've 300, but it doesnt count as a movie, it's more like vomit on celluloid.

Death proof is the worst Tarantino film IMO the only good bit is the last 20mins, and even then all i could thing was "why dont they just put their brakes on and stop" All the rest of the film is just pointless they talk about people you never meet, and im a lover of Tarantino films but this was poor, i can only hope that Planet terror is better, and that a DVD release will package them together with deathproof being the shorter USA version

Well, I was being sarcastic when I said it kicked ass..lol, and I've seen Planet Terror as well....a bit more action I guess but equally as dumb.

I think the whole point was to make the film bad.

for best movie i say American Gangster. Bad ass movie that runs 2 &1/2 hours but is well worth the $8 going to the theater. yes

worst movie that i've seen this year i would say would be SAW IV. it was allright but could have been a lot better imo

Hmmm. I'm having a hard time remembering what I've seen this year. But I do remember that Death Proof was by far the best of the bunch. And Planet Terror was pretty good in its own right. In fact, taken as a whole, Grindhouse was probably the most fun that I've ever had at a theater.

I try to avoid movies that I know I'm going to hate, but from what I saw, 300 was terrible.

I'm looking forward to Sin City 2. And "cautiously looking forward" to Hitman.

My favorites so far....

1. Rob Zombie's Halloween
2. Grindhouse (Planet Terror & Death Proof)
3. Live Free or Die Hard

I try to avoid seeing movies I know I won't like. And since there hasn't been much good this year, that just means I haven't gone to the movies that much. But I still can't think of a "worst" list ... yet. I just saw Ridley Scott's new one, American Gangster. I liked it quite a bit. There's still a few I'm looking forward to.

To those of you who didn't see Grindhouse as a whole and missed out on the unique theatrical experience, I'd argue you sort of invalidate yourselves from talking about it. Even when it's double-dipped in a few months as a complete DVD set, it's the rare movie you had to see in theaters (well, our American posters at least). And yes, as was mentioned, Tarantino wasn't making a "Tarantino" movie, he was making a 1970s exploitation flick, complete with awkward pacing and endless expository dialogue. What he and Rodriguez failed to realize, or I should say the Weinsteins before bankrolling this one, is that to appreciate the movie you had to be a fan of the types of cinema they were emulating. That's a very limited audience I've thankfully always been a part of. But most haven't. Hence it bombed.

Gtrindhouse was by far my favorite movie of the year.  I dont think it bombed because no one is a fan of those kind of movies, I think it bombed because people dont have the attention span to want to watch two movies back to back.
