"Don't Drop That Dime" is a great tune. They should come up with a bunch more and put them all together as an all-country album.

It's working for Bon Jovi.
Lost Highway is #1

And afterwards, maybe a Christmas album.
Outdoing Billy Idol & Twisted Sister will be a tough task though.

Then it's time for a "Best Of" album.
Which will probably be out before you-know-what.

No please not. That song isn't the director of music VR should do.

ps. I hope the next album won't take 3 years for releasing.

My guess is that the next album will be a best of album...

I'm a really big VR fan so I hope they'll release another album but somehow I'm not to sure they'll do that...

A best of album? They only have two albums!

Hopefully BOB will produce the next one so it wont take so long to write, record and release it.

Velvet Revolver has maybe one album left in them, I don't see it lasting much longer

Regardless of what you think of Libertad's musical merits, I don't see it selling as well as Contraband or getting as much interest.  The novelty factor combined with two massive hit singles propelled VR to their success on Contraband.  The novelty factor has worn off, and this album doesn't have homerun singles like Slither or FTP.  A lot of the people who really liked Contraband will not like this album.  And a lot of the people who didn't like Contraband who might like this album better, won't buy it because they didn't like the first one.

I know I've said this a couple times in the past so nobody needs to quote me or point it out, but VR is really heading the direction of Audioslave.  First album was a runaway success, driven by massive hit singles and the supergroup novelty factor, it was a pretty straightforward, rocking album, a promising debut.

The follow up was released about two and a half years later, similar to three years later for VR.  A softer album, some people liked it because it was more eclectic, others thought it lacked the balls of the first album, very similar to how people are reacting to Libertad in comparison to Contraband.  Out Of Exile sold well off the bat but dropped off the charts much faster than the self-titled debut.  It might be worth noting though that Be Yourself was still a huge hit, bigger than anything on Libertad will likely be, but the album still sold a lot fewer copies than the debut did

By the time the third album rolled around, most of the people who still cared bought the album the first week and then it dropped off the charts like a rock without much.  The album was a flop and the band broke up a few months after it was released.  Now whether or not that happens with VR remains to be seen, the similarities between these bands are definitely there, from the way their "supergroup" composition to the way they progressed between their first two albums

You have some good points, but it's all just speculation at this point. And remember Audioslave didn't tour for their third album.

I wouldn't be surprised if after Libertad we don't see new material for at least another 3 years. They may not tour as long on this album as Contraband but it will still probably be at least a year. Then Scott has said a bunch of times he wants to do another solo record, and who knows he might wanna tour behind it. Also didn't Scott say he wanted to write an autobiography AND do some acting? That will probably slow things up some.

The next albums will be a little more "roll" than "rock" I mean it seems as if these guys have grown up alot. I mean Slash has a pretty extensive catalog ( as to the other guys ) of bad ass rock n roll , and partying and all that stuff. They are slowing things down and it sounds good to me.

They already have a bunch of songs--covers, unreleased songs, etc, so a third CD of rarities could see the light of day, even if VR did break-up.

even if this album didnt do aswell as contraband... and the follow up to libertad not doing aswell as libertad, id like to think that the band would keep making music. (they keep saying they aint doing it for the fame/money etc.)

id be happy if they did small releases like Izzy and Gilby etc... its the music that counts, not record sales and popularity. Real fans are worth more than 10x more fans that are fans coz a bands 'in', 'scene' or 'cool' and all that bollocks.

i believe this band will continue to make music until they feel that its time to move on.
