I'm not talking about hardcore fans or anybody else in this forum. But do you think there are people out there who hear that Guns n Roses is coming to town. For instance..... People who perhaps haven't even thought about the band in 10 years or so. Then they go out and buy tickets to the concert thinking that it's going to be the original band?

I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this when going to these latest gigs? Have you run into anyone at the show who was seriously wondering where Slash and company were?

Not in real life, but at least on one other forum I just had to diss someone who complained that it was only after buying that 60 euro ticket he realized Slash et al. aren't onboard anymore. And VR was here last year. Some bells should've been ringing anyway...

Just can't understand how anyone can dish out that amount without knowing who they'll see performing (including openers). I mean, if you care at all. And if you complain, then you do care.

Some people...

Not people who are going to a gig have that thought, but there are indeed people - non fans - which are, when I told them I'm off to a GN'R gig, asking "What? GN'R? Do they still exist? Are they together again?"

So yeah, I think that there are a lot of people with those kind of thoughts

A lot of people still question who is in the band these days.  A few people that I work with were going and they had no idea who was in the band and I had to tell them.  Of course they acted as if they knew the people I was talking about but they had no fucking clue who Ron Thal, Robin Finck, Tommy Stinson, etc. were.

Some people don't care and only go for the music that they hear on the radio.  If someone isn't a big fan of band then I guess some people could care less about who is going to be performing the songs at the show.  Slash or Bumblefoot doesn't make a difference to those people.

EDIT:  I think it has to do with people that don't have a big musical background, as far as like the history of music goes.  I'm not talking about every single detail of rock history either but for people that just go buy a CD for one song they hear on the radio and then they don't try to learn anything further about the artist or band, other than the tracklisting on the back of the CD, those type of people could care less about individual members of a band.  Music isn't everything to everyone in the world like it is for some of us.

The company that was selling tickets for the new gnr show in Paris (June 2006) claimed on its site that after having done some solo projects, Guns N'Roses were together again... The word "re-union" was mentioned...

I reported it to Merck, and this was his answer : "Thanks"

My buddy's older brother bought tickets to "Guns N' Roses" right when they went on sale. ?2 days later he is trying to sell them cause "Its not Slash and Guns N' Roses". ? Roll Eyes

Too bad he's going to miss one hell of a show. ?

And my brother isn't quite as pumped for this show as he should be. ?But unlike the first guy, my bro actually knew it wasn't the original lineup with Duff and Slash. ?I know he'll have a good time though. ? Axl and co. will obliterate any doubts with the first 30 seconds of WTTJ! ? ? ?ok

I went to Detroit last week to visit a buddy. Before I went he called me and told me I had to extend my trip a couple days because his friend called him to let him know the real Guns N Roses were playing with Slash and the whole gang.  I informed him of who was really playing and they didn't get tix.. So, alot of people have no idea still.

There's a similar situation with another band - The Sisters Of Mercy. I've seen them in three completely different lineups aside from the same singer over the past twenty years. At the end of the day, if it feels the same, then it is the same.

I couldn't give a monkeys who plays as long as it sounds good.

I notice a lot of people that just like there songs and dont know the members dont care whos in the band. hardcore GNR fans that havent heard this band or them play typcially say to hell with that idea. and some go for curiousity.

I've met a few people who thought the old guys (i.e. Slash & Duff) were back, but most people I ran into were aware of the new band. They didn't necessarily know each and every guy, but they knew it was primarily a new lineup.

How's that? It's not like anyone told them. Atleast not GN'R.
