Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I was wondering who/how the band gets paid?  Are they paid based on how the tour sells? Are they paid by Geffen? maybe clear channel?  Im sure the members don't get any royalties off on any of the old GNR merchandise cd's etc ... or maybe they do from the merch they sell at their concerts? Or is their just the hope that once CD is released it sells unbelievably well?

i think it`s just by contract.......for example i you organize a concert or a festival......like rock am ring or download....you dedice who`s gonna play, and then if you choose gnr to play...you asked them how much money is for them to play....and then all the ticket sales are yours.....do you get me....

bussines....   ok

I believe the NY Times article said each band member gets $10,000 per month. They would get a fee for appearing but its probably pretty small.

As far as I can see Geffen stopped bank rolling the band awhile back. It's either Axl or Sanctuary. I could see them paying the band to help the release, mainly as they would get 10% of almost everything.

The band would have a fee for appearing along with a percentage of all tickets and merchandise sold. In this case I believe it would be the promoter collecting all the money and making sure the band gets paid the appropriate amount. The record company does get a percentage of the ticket sales aswell, along with management's usual cut.

They get paid by whoever is promoting the show.  The concert promoters put up the $$$ to get the band appear

I just found this topic interesting. ?New band, tour, no album. ?I seriously doubt they get anything from what the old GNR did. ?I guess they get something from the merchandise sold at their own concerts. ?So basically Geffen and Sanctuary do not pay this GNR then?

The record label pays the band royalties for album sales and gives them money to cover recording costs and other expenses.  The concert promters pay the band for performing live and the record label and management collect some of that money

but theres no album so no royalties, geffen pulled any money that they were giving gnr for recording.  so then promoters are the only ones paying gnr?

I just found this topic interesting.  New band, tour, no album.  I seriously doubt they get anything from what the old GNR did.  I guess they get something from the merchandise sold at their own concerts.  So basically Geffen and Sanctuary do not pay this GNR then?

The members of the new band besides Axl and Dizzy don't get paid for the old band's album sales.  Axl gets royalties from the record label for songs he wrote and performed on the old GnR albums.  Dizzy probably gets paid a small amount in royalties for performing and playing on many of the UYI songs even though he doesn't have any writing credits on the album.  The rest of the guys see none of the money from the albums they didn't contribute to.  They've been paid for their time recording CD, that money was probably coming from the record label.  They all get paid by the promoters for performing live

Axl recently signed that $20,000,000 deal with Sanctuary for them to manage his publishing rights.  He probably signed away a percentage of his publishing for the large lump sum and kept some for himself
