He sang a couple of 'knockin' on heaven's door's, and even did the hey hey part! Axl chuckled about that. The guy really wasn't too bad! Wait till it comes out on the video, it was a great moment and the crowd was really into KOHD.

I have to say most of newspapers reviews are right about one thing: Drop the THREE guitar players thing, drop most of all the solos/interlude, and just play a full Rock n' Roll show with a terrific guitar duet (the double RF) and a straight setlist, something like "take that in your face".
18 or 20 songs. a full 2H show.
shut the fuck up for once, every single thread your whining and repeating yourself, WE GET WHAT YOU THINK.

I think they have three guitar players for a thicker sound, and as the new songs were recorded w/3 guitar players, they need them for the road.

people complaing cause GNR went on stage at 10.35 ... hell. that's early.

Exactly what I've been thinking. I'll be happy if they take to the stage at 10:35 at DL and Newcastle!!
Personally, they can take as long as they want to start (especially at Download, I'm there for the day and my train home doesn't leave untill 8:14 the following morning, and I've not got a camping pass or anything lol)... as long as they do start, and I for one am sure they will!

As for the reviews, they all sound really good, the criticisms havn't so much been about the playing, which is always a good thing. I'm looking forward to many many more good reviews like the ones I've read here. Even the ones that start of by having a go at the band end up conceding that they were infact, excellent!

I love English people - loads of fun, generous, friendly - but the British press is the snottiest, most condescending bunch of wankers ever.

You really are too kind to our press. Most of the time they're worse than that (erm, apart from when they're saying something decent about GnR of course... today, most of the press... well, the majority of those posted here, are in my good books)

Quick question...and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong (and I probably am):

Wasn't some of AFD, and much of UYI, recorded as having 3 guitar parts (4 if you count the bass)? ?With Slash just overdubbing the extra parts? ?Or am I misremembering? ?I coulda sworn I remembered reading this "back in the day", but can't find it now. ?Maybe Alzheimers setting in.....

Yeah I think so and Axl has always wanted 3 guitarist after UYI releases to get studio sound in shows.
