what song would you think would be best for a GNR cover band concert?

just wondering.... should we do the things GNR used to do live, or take the songs we like most to play and dont give a shit about the audience, as long as we play jungle, sweet child and paradise are they happy?
your insight, please ?
on beforehand, tnx!

That's a good question 'cause I never actually went to see any kind of cover band...but if I did, it wouldn't matter what they played...do people yell out requests at those things? Just play what you want hihi

I saw a great GNR tribute act back in February, I think they played everything from AFD, as well as stuff from Illusions like YCBM, Civil War, KOHD, Get In the Ring (complete with word-for-word Axl rant), Live and let die etc. Can't really remember any more because I was pretty drunk. I think they opened with Reckless Life actually as well.

I wouldn't worry if you choose obscure songs. Sure, get the hits down first (WTTJ, SCOM etc), but remember that most people that are going to bother to come and see you are there to rock out to GNR - they know what they're getting. The time I went to see "Gunz n' Roses", the crowd totally nuts during It's so easy, Civil War and you could be mine.

Just learn and play as many songs as you can  ok

When I go see tribute bands I always want them to throw in a good amount of obscure stuff.  I want to hear stuff that the actual band doesn't play live.  Of course you want to hear some of the hits, but if you threw in some really rare stuff like say Ain't It Fun, One In A Million, or Back Off Bitch that would be awesome.

yeah.. we thought of that too...
we are doing Perfect Crime, dont damn me and attitude are probably the most "obscure" songs we do for now.. but still lots a song to learn...
me and the singer wanna do chinese democracy too... would have been cool doin One In A Million too...

dead horse is also a song under the learning...

man, i have 2 original bands also, so having a cover band on the side is actualy exhausting! :p

Sounds pretty cool, dude.  I'd love to hear those songs you mentioned played live.  Do you guys go with the whole GN'R look and everything when you play, or do you just play the songs?

If I went to see a GNR cover band and they didn't play Estranged, I'd be disappointed.

well, first of, i hear ALL the fucking time that i look alot like duff... i mean, i hae long blonde hair.. thats it :p oh well.. and im the bassist... and im sporting about the same clothes as they did back in the days..
so does the guitarist with semi long hair (black).. very izzy'ish

but the drummer is one tall fucker with short hair and wears,... uhm... ugly pants.. the kind you use when jogging.. kinda :p (maybe we will replace him... not sure yet)

and the vocalist is really cool... got short hair though... dosnt do too much of an image

so i wouldnt say we copy the image, no.. but just wear our clothes from our influences!

but learning estranged? damn... i dont even wanna touch that song.. and we dont have a piano! so its kinda outta the question.. if we get a pianoist, then it would be cool Wink
