I'm going to Vegas at the end of February and was looking for some ideas of what to do there.  I'm sure some of you guys have been there and have great ideas and knowledge.  Anything you'd be willing to share would be appreciated.

Theres plenty to do... you don't have to plan it all out.   Just come here and enjoy the city, and spend as much money as you can.

Party on Freemont Street. Screw the Strip. Freemont is cheaper, more dirty, and just more fun.  Grin  I only live like 3 miles from the MGM, and I can't even tell you the last time I was on the Strip. Yeah, walk it, see the sights, then go straight to Freemont. The Hard Rock is fun too, though parking sucks at the moment because of all the construction.

I loved the strip ! if you plan on spending alot of time on the strip, I suggest getting a 5 day monorail pass if I remember correct it was 15 bucks or cheaper.  I stayed at MGM Grand and loved it, they have a awesome sports book if your into that thing, also check out Treasure Island and get a bite to eat at Canter's Deli best sandwiches I ever tasted.  Planet Hollywood is pretty sweet, if your looking for cheap gambling there is slots of fun next to Circus Circus.  Make sure to visit Ceasars Palace that place is awesome I got lost in their mall.

I'm staying at the Rio cause I got a nice military discount and I always wanted to see Penn & Teller.  I'll be spending alot of time on the Strio too.  I'm not a slots guy, gonna play some poker while I'm in town.  I've been to Tunica and AC, but never Vegas, so I'm looking forward to it.

I love just walking around the hotels. I love the Venetian, the Hard Rock and the Mirage the best. I love the white lions at the Mirage. I love shopping at Caesar's Palace. Wear good walking shoes!

Gamble in Green Valley about 15 minutes away, your chance of winning probably goes up tenfold if not much more.

Go see the Redrocks while you are there too.

The Hoover Dam is close and cool to see.

My personal fave in Vegas is the Crazy Horse Too.  Hot topless women and very hands on lap/private dances!!

There is an older casino on the strip that has a 23 hour happy hour.  Can't remember the name but it's toward the north end.

Dude, eat at the RIO buffet.  Or the Harrahs sunday champaign buffet.  Seriously.  If you do one thing in Vegas, do that.

I have been to Vegas more times than I can count, it would almost be fair to call it my second home and still there are things that I have yet to see and do, I never plan ahead as far as entertainment goes, for me it works best to just go with the flow. I don't think you could be board even if you wanted to.  Have a safe trip and a great time!!

Put your spending money in one pocket and your winnings in another.  Leave when the spending pocket is empty.

was like 65 today and sunny  Cool

i agree on the Rio buffet, its probably the best one.. but i hate buffets.

Also agree on Green Valley Ranch.    Great hotel, but more for locals.. if I was a tourist I wouldn't stay there.    For locals places, I prefer Red Rock Casino and I haven't been up to check out the new Aliante Station just yet.

Steve Wynn's Encore also opened up less than a month ago.

Fremont St is usually a great time and also a little better odds than on the Strip.

If you want to do something out doors, you can go on a hike out at Red Rock Canyon, I go there all the time and just blaze in the desert with the wild burros and big horn sheep..

You are getting some bad advice on here.  I go to Vegas about once every two months.  If you have never been there before, stay on the strip and have fun.  The strip is fun, and there is plenty to do there.  People that live in Vegas don't go to the strip that often -- but that doesn't mean that its not the best spot and won't be fun for you.  There is no reason to go to the Green Valley Ranch, downtown, or anywhere else off the strip except the Hard Rock and the Palms.  Also, my advice is not to get the Monorail pass.  It is a waste and doesn't really take you anywhere you want to go -- especially if you are staying at the RIO.  How many days are you staying?

The great thing about Vegas is it probably has some of the best food and restaurants in the world.  You can go very expensive to pretty cheap.  I suggest looking ahead of time at some hotels you want to check out and then looking to see what restaurants are at those hotels.  Depending on whether you are going on a weekend, it may be best to make reservations if you want to go somewhere busy.  You can also look at the Las Vegas Magazines in your hotel room once you arrive -- they have a pretty good breakdown of restaurants based on types of food, expense and hotels.

As for Poker, there are plenty of good places to play.  It used to be that not every hotel had a Poker room, but that has pretty much changed in recent years.  Depending on what stakes you want to play, I suggest the Bellagio, Wynn, Mirage and Mandalay for Poker rooms.  You should be able to find 2/3 no limit anywhere (100 buy in), but if you want higher stake games I would go to the nicer casinos and vice versa.

Hey man if you want to throw all your money away then do it on the strip like all the other suckers. If you want to up your odds of winning then hit Green Valley Ranch. My wife and I always drive out there and we always win something. The strip is great fun you bet, but there are so many other great aspects to Las Vegas. Just like there are so many other great things to New Orleans other than Bourbon Street.
