Guns N Rock Music...you honestly believe it would be cheaper to deport 10 million people, (men, women, and children) than to grant amnesty, admit that as a nation, our greedy business owners fucked up, and set up severe penalties for businesses and private citizens paying illegal aliens?  I think you are gravely mistaken if you think you can seal the borders.

Borders can't be sealed.  It can't happen.  This country is too big.  You have to crack down on what brings the illegals into the nation itself...money.

I'd love to see executives who make 6-figures/year sitting in jail for hiring illegal aliens.  (yes, Guns N Rockmusic, big businesses like fast food joints, livestock plants, factories, etc.,
all hire illegal aliens, not just mom and pops)

On a slightly related point, I just love how folks look the other way when it's just a "hard-workin' white boy" earnin' money "under the table" as opposed to a "Mexican illegal" doing the same thing.  Makes ya think.

Borders can't be sealed.? It can't happen.? This country is too big.? You have to crack down on what brings the illegals into the nation itself...money.

We already acknowledge that it's fucked up.  I'm not removing the blame from businesses, they knowingly broke the law - I don't care why or the circumstance.  Yes, I do believe it will be more exspensive, hiring bi-lingual teachers, the unemployment and welfare cost - none of these people have any credentials, they're all laborers.  Those types of jobs aren't in hot demand, what's in hot demand is the price they're willing to do them for.  So what will happen is adding 10 million workers to the South West all entitled to pay and benefits of citizens, thus flooding the market, creating a huge unemployment probelm and........drum roll........ mexicans still working illegally because they can secure work undercutting the now legally employed Mexicans.

I'm not against them working illegally.  I have no problem with competition.  However, my personal feelings on labor cost doesn't preclude the law.  My point is that the amnesty bill isn't going to fix the labor problem.  All it is going to do is add millions to welfare lists, schools and many other social services who won't be putting a dime into it and even if they do, it won't begin to cover the cost.  But economics aside, they don't want to be Americans.  They want to transform LA in New Mexico City (yes I know Los Angelas is Spanish).  The problem is that the south west won't be the beacon of hope once the flood gate is opened.  It will become a giant shithole like most of Mexico (the parts tourist don't goto) and they'll keep moving north until they're jumping into Canada.  I get it, their lives suck and working in America is a way out.  I empathize with that, but so some respect for the country that's helping you prosper by respecting its laws and paying for the services you use.

It's so easy to label me or anyone against amnesty racist, but that's an emotional response.  These people aren't dumb, lazy or bad.  But entitling to the rights of citizenship is going to cost a hell of alot more then sending their asses back to Mexico in the long run.  I'm advocating harsh penalties for the business, small and large.  I'm also advocating harsh penalties for illegal aliens.  The Mexican government doesn't give two shits.  The aide their people in leaving Mexico to work here.  Then they bitch when we send a Badass like Dog into grab one of the rapist they helped come over.

This is why I support the minutemen.  They're taking a stand and doing something about it.  They're the ones who are going to have to live with Spanish being taught alongside english in school at their exspense.  They're the ones that are going to have to pay the increased insurance rates.  They're the ones who are going to have to pay for the newcomers who can't afford to pay for themself.

It's easy to be the activist when you don't live on the boarder and it won't be any immediate cost to you.  Just look at those fuckers at Columbia University a few weeks ago.  Contrary to Wat_ever's comments, we do have a culture in America that is distincly our own.  I find it funny that he is telling me what countries are entitled to a culture when he himself is not a native European by ancestry.  All Americans are immigrants, but what counts is how you got here, not when.  I am of German Heritage and all of my family came here legally.  Mexico doesn't possess the legal system we do, so there's no way to cross check criminals for safety.

No one on here is bitching about the English being upset with the Islamic takeover there, but somehow the mexican invasion of America is different.

Guns,
good post and I hear you.  the problem is this.  Once you spend all the money to get rid of these people, you will have to spend even more when you have to send them back 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 times!  Industry would be crippled with a mass deportation.  That's why Bush has spoken about getting the illegals legal.

Take away the lure.  Punish those who hire illegal workers with stiff jail time.  Do not grant illegal aliens the same rights as legal American citizens when it comes to welfare.  I actually agree that immigrants should be required to learn English.  My grandfather and grandmother had to when they came over, what's the difference?  Seriously, there is room for a compromise here.

Guns your last post was a lot better/rational/coherent and less racist then your first.  Its a shame you couldn't have started out with that one as the discussion would have been much better.

As for the English backlash on the arab immigration, America is much different then the UK in terms of its acceptance and history with immigration.  America was built by immigrants.  It also seems to be less economic and more about culture.  I honestly don't know too much about it as I live here, not there so its not nearly as big a story here in the US.

I'm with Axl (again) on this one....a compromise is the only answer.  this is CLEARLY a grey area, no clear cut right/wrong.
