Probably Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert on TV in '92 when I was 7 or something. My dad was a big Queen fan so sat down to watch it with him. Think tbh, it was a bit like 'what do those guys looks like, long hair with a kilt and a guy with a top hat on!' Hehe

Think once the GH came out though I properly listened to the music and loved it. Think I've listened to the gunners every day since!

Great thread!

Saw the video for Paradise City on a video show that used to be on ITV on Saturday lunch times, can't remember the name, but when G n R came on it totally blew me away. This was in '89, so I must have been 13 years old.
I remember thinking,  who are these fuckers? And I've been totally hooked ever since,
G n R forever man!  beer

I had heard some GN'R songs before on the radio but was too young and not into music yet... Then I saw a live version of Welcome To The Jungle (probably on MTV) and I had never seen soo much energy on stage. Axl was running from one side of the stage to the other, the inflatable Appetite For Destruction monster was there. Slash, Duff and Izzy were as wild as ever and I really got a kick out of watching this. I was probably 11 or 12 at the time. So maybe the visual aspect of GN'R was what draw my attention first.
At school my friends were also into GN'R and we discussed the lyrics (like "I know how you feel inside, I've been there before") and music. Some years later I was the only one at school who was still into GN'R. It was uncool to listen to GN'R but I couldn't help myself and GN'R became my addiction.

Madame Wongs, then the Troubadour 1985 when I first saw them play.  Axl came on stage wearing thong, chaps and a scarf.  I fell in lust and been there ever since.  They summed up my teens and how I was feeling about everything then.  Loved them ever since.

Yeah, he used to come on stage and within the first song or two he'd turn around and shake his ass at the crowd, the women went crazy.  Good times.

2001. I was only 11, my sister had just got Live Era. WTTJ was the one song that really got me into the band.

First time I heard GnR I was about 12, back in 1988. Myself and an older neighbour I used to hang about and smoke with was always playing tapes to me that he'd copy off guys from his boarding school. I remember listening to The Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones and then he came along with this recording of Appetite for Destruction, it sounded amazing and as a kid back in 1988 it was great to hear someone swearing in a song. I recorded about 5 songs off him that night before I had to go home and went to bed playing the songs. Next day I ran over to record the rest. After a few weeks I went and bought Appetite on tape. I was blown away when I saw them on TV, they looked as cool as they sounded. They were on Headbanger's Ball playing The Roxy and it was class/ I remember my mother giving out to me and telling me to go to bed cos it was on kinds late but I pleaded with her to let me watch it. Soon after bought GNR Lies and probably had one of my first wanks looking at the inlay card Cheesy looking at the naked woman. I thought these guys were the baddest and greatest band ever. During the summer I'd cut grass to be able to afford to buy a new GnR T-Shirt every week
