Considering Slash was not allowed to watch the Vegas show(s), I'd say that Axl will not be at the VMA's this year, purely based on the expectation that VR may just get a handfull of awards.

Can you imagine the backstage mess this would cause? Cobain / Rose fiasco revisited.

That's one way of getting back into the limelight, I suppose.

I dont believe VR are nominated for any VMAs.  Im not sure theyre even attending, unfortunately.

MTV got their nostalgia act in 2002, why would they want to book GN'R again?  There is no sign of a new album, no new tour and they aren't getting any awards.

For the person who said that something had to happen soon.  No it doesn't.  We've been telling ourselves that for the past three years and still no release date.

The bottom line is that they won't be at the VMA's.

I don't even care if they do the vmas again, the first time around was what made it special... I rather one day hear gnr is going to be there and look up and see the afd crew up there.. New gnr is so long ago that they are so distant from my mind..

MTv would not have them back anyway.

And there's no Buckethead, so unless they have a replacement guitarist, its gonna be a while before we see Axl & co on a stage...

I think they would but they need to have some agreement that all is done and there is something to announce.. If it ever happens with this album mtv will play a big part in it's promotion.. Possibly a day of gnr videos and a intro to the new one...

Robin and Richard played the immense majority of the guitar parts. they are enough. Buckethead was just an additional musician more than anything else. A folklore. "just an add".?I have some video bootlegs where sometimes he didn't even play (the blues) or just played a 30 sec fast guitar solo and then returned sleeping on the right side of the stage with his toys for the rest of the song. the band can (and should) roll on with the duet finck/fortus. It's fine like that. Back to the fundamentals.

The actual line-up (1 singer - 2 guitar players - 2 keyboards - 1 drummer - 1 bass player) seems fine to me and perfect to rule the world  Cool

nesquick, if Buckethead is irrelevant like you say, why did GNR not play Rio?

ready for what then? obviously they didnt need buckethead cause as you said .. he didnt do anything cept stand by his "toys" and play 20 sec's of fast guitar.

it's strange though that the actual leader of the band and not some little fanboy made a statement saying that because buckethead quit they couldnt play rir4.  ok

But then again , whats axl's word against yours afterall.  hihi

If the band do play, it'll be good to know if Buckethead has joined up with them again or to see if the new guitarist is as good a replacement  Smiley

I think if Axl was to ever do the VMA's again, he should already have CD released.  It would be embarassing for him, I would enjoy the performance no doubt and seeing him again would be awesome but what's the point without the album.

I said this before and Ill say it again. Guns n roses doesnt need BH to play the AFD songs but they need him to play the new songs that will appear on CD.  CD was writtien with THREE guitar players thus they would need three to play them  live. AFD was written with TWO thus they only need two. Understand?

Before all my posts about subjective matters there should be an IMO before the post. I took this sig down but of course it has to go back up.

You have no clue what was written with 3 guitar players.  All you or anyone else knows is that there were a handful of songs written that have surfaced: blues, madagascar, rhiad, CD, etc.  Who knows what will be on CD if it ever sees the light of day. With Axl's nuttiness he may fire all the guitarists and make the album with no instruments at all.  Maybe he'll think he's Prince and play every instrument himself...  BH was and is a freak show and was essentially never there anyway.  As far as 90% of the music world knows, BH never existed in GnR.
