Post by: Fingers on August 12, 2011, 12:38:56 AM
Jani Lane is dead-if someone could post a link-always thought they got a raw deal-good, fun band savaged by the critics.

Poison kind of made it through, but they were always known as the "Cherry Pie" band-unfairly.

People who are young may not realize that in the late 80's, Warrant was on MTV as much as Guns n Roses, Poison or Motley-they were no joke, and were really big-after Nirvana, they were the poster boy for hair metal, and whatever was "wrong" with rock music.

Bobbi Brown was absolutely perfect for that video.  Still one of my favorite videos, fun and light hearted.

RIP Jani Lane

He was a fun guy

People from that era miss the highs. They take alcohol and meds to replace them, then kill themselves. It is such a shame.

SEBASTIAN BACH On JANI LANE: 'His Only Real Friend... That Killed Him In The End' - Aug. 12, 2011

Former SKID ROW vocalist Sebastian Bach has penned the following tribute to WARRANT singer Jani Lane:

"People have been asking me about Jani Lane and I really don't know what to say. Picturing him by himself in a Comfort Inn in Woodland Hills with a bottle of vodka and a bottle of pills is so typical of what a rock musicians life actually is. It is a life marked by extremes. Extreme attention from people you don't know, while all the work and travel takes you away from those you actually do know. Playing to thousands of people and then going back to your hotel room and shutting the door. When the door shuts... the quiet is the exact opposite of the volume of the concert. The solitude of the empty hotel room becomes the diametric parallel of the adulation of strangers. For some, the bottle of vodka or whatever becomes a friend that is always there for you while others come and go.

"Yes, I have felt these emotions myself.

"If you see me going head over heels over a girl, it's because all I have ever wanted is to have a girl to love and share my life with, and for the one I love to be with me wherever I'm at, travel with me to distant locales and stay in nice kick-ass hotel suites and have fun and sing and dance and see the world. But so far this is a fantasy. Just like Jani, I spend most of my time alone in a hotel room dreaming of a girl I love who is somewhere else. I bet Jani Lane felt exactly what I feel. How could he not?

"I remember decades ago being invited to Jani's house for a barbeque, which we went to. But Jani didn't show up. So I spent the afternoon with Jani's dad cooking burgers and steaks and having a wonderful day with his family.

"My condolences to his family and especially Jani's children who now only have memories of their dad to hold on to. That is truly heartbreaking.

"Let this be yet another lesson to tell someone some kind words sometimes... before it's too late... while they are still alive.

"I can guarantee Jani Lane would not have anticipated everyone coming out of the woodwork extolling the life and times of Jani Lane. Which is why he probably died alone. In a hotel room. With his only real friend...that killed him in the end."

The lack of compassion from the hotel staff is incredible.

JANI LANE: Audio Of 911 Call Released - Aug. 24, 2011

TMZ.com reports that when former WARRANT singer Jani Lane's body was discovered at a California motel on August 11, no one at the scene wanted to go near him, even to check if he was still alive.

According to the audio recording of the 911 call placed by a lady at the front desk, housekeepers discovered the body, but no one would touch it to check for a pulse.

The dispatcher replied, "It would be nice to know if we can help him," but the hotel staff at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, California still refused.

Sorry, but they should be fired for that. Someone in that situation needs to see if the poor guy is still alive.

They're not paramedics, they have no responsibility for that addict

If you want them to go after someone, go after the person who wrote the 'I am Jani Lane' note and put it in his pocket knowing what was going to happen

No, but the dispatcher would've been able to assist them if he were still alive until the paramedics arrived. What if it were you and cpr until the paramedics arrived would've saved your life.

True

But i'd be willing to bet they could tell he was dead... Pale, clammy, hell his eyes could have even been open... Cant blame them if that was the case

I still think they should have at least just checked for a pulse. You never know.

They don't get paid enough....

Besides, corpses stink.

It's not hard to tell if someone is dead or alive, trust.

From Mark Kendall of Great White.

Jani Lane passed away recently. Would you mind saying a few words about him?

You know, my wife and I were close to his wife and him. We had something in common with alcoholism. I battled alcohol before. I wouldn?t want to call myself his sponsor but I was more like a sober friend and I tried to encourage him. He was actually out singing with us for a little bit, completely professional, he wasn?t drinking or anything, he looked amazing, he sang wonderful. The fans hadn?t seen him look so good and sing so good in twenty years and he was just so great. I remember sitting in an airport one time and he was sitting with his wife and I go, ?Jani, man, you look so amazing right now.? I go, ?What?s wrong with this? I mean, you?ve got to feel great. The fans say you haven?t sang this great in so long and you?re just looking so good?. And he goes, ?I know it, I love it.? So I really encouraged him and I sent him daily prayers, every single day I sent him a prayer ? What people don?t realize is Jani, for one thing, he?s got a lot of talent. I mean, he is the most talented guy. He played drums on his own records, that?s how good he is. People don?t even know that. He wrote every Warrant song you?ve ever heard. But with his alcoholism, his demons ? He wanted to be sober more than anything. He really, really loved his sobriety. It?s just the demons he battled and I know what it?s like. I understand it because I?m an alcoholic myself. I?ve just managed to overcome it a day at a time. I found something that works for me ? Jani just kept firing the bullet and it was just the fatal one that finally happened. But he didn?t want it to happen, believe me. So it?s really a horrid tragedy and when something like that happens, it just hurts so many people and it?s unfortunate. But I want everyone to know that he really wanted to be a sober man.
