Title: Doctors vs Gun Owners
Post by: D on July 31, 2010, 11:30:41 PM
Doctors vs. Gun Owners

Doctors

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is

700,000.

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians

per year are

120,000.

(C) Accidental deaths per physician
is

0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of
Health and Human Services.

Now think about this:

Guns

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S.

is

80,000,000.

(Yes, that's 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths

per year, all age groups,

is

1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths

per gun owner

is

.000188.

Statistics courtesy of FBI

So, statistically, doctors are approximately

9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,

BUT

Almost everyone has at least one doctor.
This means you are over 900 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as a gun owner!!!

Please alert your friends

to this

alarming threat.

We must ban doctors

before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Agreed. and that is obviously 80 million gun owners with registered guns because it came from the FBI.

Doctors may kill more people accidentally than guns do , gun owners - legal or illegal - kill more people purposely than doctors

I don't know where you learned math D , or who gave you your high school diploma : but 12,632 is more than " just over 12k "  :hihi: it is over twelve and a half thousand!

And either way :

  ?Number of deaths: 12,632
?Deaths per 100,000 population: 4.2
Source: Deaths: Final Data for 2007, tables B, 18

they be old statistics amigo

edit : incase my point wasn't clear : yes , you are indeed reading it horribly wrong

Careful now, the government may accuse you of being logical.  Pretty sure that's a felony.

i know this is a kind of joke topic, but the Accidental deaths caused by Physicians is a difficult thing to judge, i mean are they talking about the patient being healthy and then the doctor killing him by mistake with a bad decision? or are they talking about an ill person and then the doctor making a decision that contributed to the patient dying?

i mean obviously if you are treating ill persons some are going to die and it could be counted as a mistake because the decision is made some times in seconds.

by this logic you could say that "x" doctor kills more persons than a serial killer does.

but how many people doctors save in comparision to the ones that die, and how many lives does gun owners save?

Compare intentional gun deaths with intentional murders by doctors. That should be an interesting statistic.

Not really.

Point he's trying to make is that banning guns is pretty pointless when you look at the damage they really do.

D, are you genuinely that backward?

Guns kill people: Doctors cure people who are needing help or they may die. Why would you compare the two  : ??? You are effectively comparing natural death with unnatural death.
