The 20 Most Controversial Songs Of All Time

April 26, 2010

19. Guns N Roses': 'Used To Love Her' ? Just like The Smiths' 'Girlfriend In A Coma', the upbeat tune of Guns N' Roses' 1988 acoustic track starkly contrasts to its gritty content. Bluesy yet pop, the murderous track centres on the lines ?I used to love her, but I had to kill her? and ?I had to put her six feet under but I can still hear her complain.? Axl Rose insisted the track was merely a joke, but this did little to thwart a barrage of perhaps understandable complaints from females.

I don't remember anyone being all that upset about "Used to Love Her".

"One in a Million" and "Look at Your Game Girl" on the other hand, created much, much greater shitstorms in the GNR universe.

One in a Million was the song I had on my mind when I saw this thread.
WTF were those people thinking???

Yeah, I strongly suspect these people just pulled that one out their asses.  All of the other songs listed are much more controversial than "Used to Love Her".  Maybe they just felt they had to put GNR on the list and didn't do their homework.   ???

I think Kurt had more of a problem with OIAM than Used To Love Her. I think it's where a lot of his dislike of GNR came from....

Yep I am guessing none of the black people even care about that song anymore.
Or no black people were in charge of making the list I guess.
