What is this? Like 10 messages and no obligatory !MTV fucking  SUCKS! post?

MTV fucking sucks!

They've gone from playing fairly shitty music to not playing music at all.

All that seems to remain is absolutely fucking repulsive reality tv show after another  aimed at people who hopefully are so stupid they dont even exist.
If their current catalogue doesn't summon a lot of violent thoughts in you, you just arent a good human being.

Music gets the top priority only when they decide to do the annual "OHH LOOK AT US WE ARE SO FUCKING IMPORTANT"ring jerk. It must be getting really, really hard to keep pretending like any of their 2000 meaningless award shows really mattered to anyone anymore.

I just love watching youtube and co. slowly eating  that annoying monstrosity to death.

It's puzzling how they can piss  the massive relevance they had at late 80's/early 90's away. Of course, it's different world out there. They (as a network that actually plays music videos) are facing competition  in forms they can't fairly compete with  even. But it's not like they ever seemed to try even. Unless you want to count footage of annoying teenaged drama queen assholes running around in some irrelevant show a proper counterstrike to Youtube.

Nothin big happened.

Russell was funny, especially after the Jonas Brothers and Jordin Sparks got pissed at him for making fun of their promise rings.   :hihi:

the whole joke on slipknot and mcloving was funny, very unexpected. Jordin was pissed at Russell for the promise ring comment, at least he had the balls to say it, her comeback was horrible

Russell Brand (at least, I think that's his name) was the best part of the show, IMO, and the only reason worth watching. I saw something on Yahoo that said he's the worst VMA host ever, or some crap like that, but I thought he was very funny. He made several racy jokes; he wasn't afraid of offending anyone in the audience. I got the feeling that he knew that the show and all its participants were incredibly lame, and he went out of his way to poke fun at everyone and everything, as well as interrupting presenters and doing his best to make everyone feel awkward and uncomfortable. I love the guy for that. I also think it was cool of MTV to allow a basic unknown to host the show.

But yeah, I'm like everyone else . . . What the hell is the point of the VMAs being on a channel that doesn't even show music videos (or, for that matter, anything to do with music, period). Maybe I'm not "cool," but I didn't even know several of the people I saw last night. Who the hell is Paramore? And Tokio Hotel? (<-- Is their singer a dude, chick, transvestite?). Britney Spears winning anything is a joke.

I think VH1 should host the show from now on. At least they show nothing but music videos from like 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. I like the "Artists You Should Know . . ." thing they do, helping promote more obscure bands/musicans that deserve success.

Jordan Sparks could kick his ass.  :hihi:  Hell, she looks like a linebacker.

D - did you skip thru everything you tivo'd?  This sucked.

It was like the Britney pity party or something.

Tokio Hotel's singer was purdy.  ::)

Russell Brand was hilarious. Britney won cause look what she was up against?

Rihanna's performance was excellent although I think they all lip synch.

Did u see the awkard ass Kid Rock performance? The ENTIRE CROWD was just fucking sitting there. No clapping, no standing, NOTHING. Very very fucking weird.
Pink's performance was pretty good also and u almost saw a nipple slip! OOPS!

Rest of the night was Ungodly terrible. Unbelievable how souless and shitty music is these days.

I swear to God I could be a millionaire producing the retarded, mind numbing shitty synth pop music thats out today.

Its so piss stupid and ridiculous.

Labels blame Downloaders for the record business dying.

maybe they should listen to their fucking products.

Russel Brand was horrible, unless the point was to make all the other monotone 'readers' look better...they used an unknown because all the other trainwrecks have better paying jobs on reality shows, or in rehab.  The 'music' (read: Karaoke) was horrible because MTV/VH1/CMT don't know what music is anymore...more interested in fashion and 'reality tv' (read: set-up scripted drama).  I thankfully fell asleep shortly after they gave a 33 minute warning for Kenya West.  I had to look up Tokio Hotel today, because I had nightmares about the chick singer...apparently her...err, his, name is Bill something.  MTV is part of the music industry's 'rust belt', and needs to change or die.

Russel Brand was horrible

Well I guess you won't want to know this but anyone else who, like me, enjoyed ol' Russ at the VMAs might be happy about this.  BBC2 are finally showing a repeat of Russell Brand on the Road (first shown last year on BBC4, if memory serves).

From the Radio Times website:

Russell Brand on the Road
Sunday 14 September 10:45pm - 11:45pm  BBC2
Russell Brand sets out across America's vast heartland in homage to one of his literary heroes, Jack Kerouac and his classic novel, On The Road, which turns 50 this year and has inspired countless hipsters and restless souls to hit the road. Russell read the book when he was nineteen and was excited by the sense of magic and possibility it conjured up. Travelling with his friend Matt Morgan, he sets off on a own coast-to-coast adventure that becomes a journey of self-discovery.

You can also watch it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPxa7XhvZKk

And loads of other great Russ stuff to see at:

http://www.russellbrandfansite.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=51

And back on topic about the VMAs, when did they get so safe, sanitised and lets face it, dull?!  It was like watching a Disney production.

Russell Brand has sparked a lot of controvery now after the VMAs. A lot of people are angry about him making fun of Bush, calling him a "retarded cowboy" (hey, he's only making an obvious observation!). Apparently it's okay for American comics to constantly bash the president, but not a "foreigner." Christian conservatives are angry with him for making fun of promise rings and abstinence. Lovers of the Jonas Brothers are angry with him, as are Jordin Sparks' fans. Whatever the hell Twilight is, the play or whatever, apparently fans of that are really angry with him and have been sending tons of e-mails to MTV complaining about Brand interrupting one of the members of the play when he was trying to present the next act.

I think all of it's pretty hilarious. As I said already, Brand was the only good thing about the VMAs. He has a rock star attitude (and look); he shook things up; he didn't play it safe; and now he's also made a name for himself in the U.S. due to being so "controversial." I hope he becomes a big star here like he has in his own country.

Last thing Obama needs is some dude like Russell Brand endorsing him for president.
