How often are you sad? What do you do to deal with sadness...?

Determine why you are sad and see if there is something that can be done to change it.

Also concentrate on how counterproductive it is to be sad.

Easier said than done, but thats how I approach it.

How often is a tough one.  Honestly, I don't know.  I do know that I get bummed when I'm injured and can't swim, bike, or run.  I am sad when my wife and kids are sick.

Laughter is the best medicine and thinking of others before yourself...in your case Nixon, though, I'd recommend some dirty magazine all about women's asses.   ;D  btw, hope you're not down.    :peace:

Cigarettes. Alochol. Masturbation. Oh, and reading some Bukowski.

Make it challenging.  Masturbation whilst holding the cigarette in the same hand...then pouring rubbing alcohol over the chafed and tender skin.  That'll snap ya out of any funk....or so I've heard?  :nervous:  :hihi:

Rarely.

I notice my moods swing based on diet, in particular how much processed sugar I am consuming. Big difference when I cut it out, increased energy, more upbeat and so on. Drinking plenty of water does the same thing.

Booze and music are a big help.

slc makes a good point.  I totally agree.  Increase the junk food and you will look and feel like shit.  Eat a good hearty breakfast, and small meals throughout the day with plenty of fresh veggies and lean meat if you eat meat.  You'll look and feel a ton better!!!  Regular exercise is huge for me.  :peace:

Definitely!

Also I like to swim a lot. Water seems to calm me down when I feel anxious.

You know...even as I stopped practicing what I preached (and ballooned up in size, a bit)...that was always what I found, too.

Now that I'm back on the straight and narrow (or the slim and trim, if you prefer) with my diet, I find I'm much more upbeat and have  LOT more energy.  I can keep UP with my 3 kids, now. :)

Booze and music are a big help.
booze can trigger depression.

But sure, that's how I deal with it sometimes.

I also try to reason it out and fight it.

I can get sad by anything. I've been sad my whole life due to hormone problems so in addition to taking anti-depressants forever, I like to smoke reefer and try to laugh as much as I can. I have a love/hate relationship with alcohol but usually don't drink when I'm sad because it just makes me cry. So, I actually steer clear of booze when I'm sad but some Chappelle's show/South Park and reefer helps tremendously. Oh, and I've learned that not trying to dwell on negative helps too. But that has been a hard lesson when you have been raised to mistrust everyone. Or at least not think negatively right away. The food stuff is true though too but it helps me with energy more so than my mood.

I get really sad when I realize Chinese Democracy may come out after I'm dead.  :hihi:

Don't say that!

As for me, if I'm feeling a little blue, I like to find a creative outlet to release the negative vibes.

And I know that things will always get better, that'll keep ya going.
