Title: What's so great with YGNR?
Post by: CheapJon on January 19, 2008, 01:18:36 PM
When I'm reading the VR section here it seems that all VR fans (and even the ones disliking VR) thinks that "You Got No Right" is among VR's best songs and should have been released as a single from Contraband,
me myself i don't get that at all, to me it is probably the worst and most boring song they have recorded (covers excluded)

please inform me, what's good about it?  :hihi:

I guess, to each his own.  I think it's a really good song.  I don't know if I'd say it's their BEST song, but it's up there for me.

It's a great song, arguably the best on the album.

Great song...fantastic solo, probably one of VR's least repetitive songs...nice flow to it

It's like the VR epic song.

It's just a strung out rock song.

Like the acoustic flow at the beginning.

I prefer Scott's vocals on the version they played live prior to releasing the album, but they're still pretty good on the studio version. As far as what there is to like about it, I agree it's kinda their epic ballad. It starts soft and acoustic and builds up to a magnificent Slash solo (one of his best since GN'R).

I thought "YGNR" was like an insult to the latest incarnation of guns when I saw the title of this thread?     Like a "GNR-X" or something

For me, it's the solo, especially the start. The song is arguably the best on the album.

I think Loving the Alien is much better.

I think Loving the Alien is much better.

Loving The Alien reminds me too much of Wonderful from STP's 5th album. I think YGNR is a good song. I don't go out of my way to listen to it all the time, but I don't skip it either. I never really noticed anyone besides D saying that it shoulda been a single.

Yeah Loving the alien is really good. I love it too.

I would rather have 6 tracks that are great, and 6 filler songs than a whole album of filler like "Libertad".

I'm not too fond of the over-produced album version of YGNR. Don't like the filter vocals and slean guitar sounds. Give me the longer blender magazine show version with the acoustics anyday!

I think You Got No Right is the most beautiful song VR ever wrote.

Awesome vocals from Scott, some of Slash's best guitar playing in VR, good lyrics, good flow, awesome intro.. everything about it is great.

Beautiful song.
