Ok,  is it just me or does the music sound different? The guitar solo parts aren't quiet the same and the ending sounds a lot different. It's almost like the music has been rerecorded but the vocals are original. I just woke up so maybe i'm wrong.

I just watched it again and its definitely different, the drums sound totally different, not nearly as much reverb.

I beg to differ....To me it sounds like the original version. I'll recognice that guitarsound anywhere!
It's been edited though...but I bet you figured that out already :P
Cool video though!

I dunno if any of you guys have played the demo yet but a crew of us over at buckethead.tk play the demo online on the PS3 and it rocksd. The fact that the GNR song will be in this game is just icing on the freaking cake.

They may have used a slightly different mix of the original even before editing it, but that's the original.

It seems faster... kind of like how the new gnr plays it now... Maybe they did a remix... or it could be a re recorded version... who cares it looks and sounds awesome...

The game looks surprisingly cool, but a lot of you need to stop overanalyzing ... bad. That's the exact same goddamn version of "Paradise City," albeit edited, that we've been listening to off of Appetite for 20 years. I'm surprised people on here would have such a hard time recognizing it. Sorry to break it to you, but the re-recorded Appetite ain't surfacing. Not like this.

as far as song speculation goes... its probably just remastered IF anything. people look too much into things thesedays.

as far as the game goes... meh. dont really care.

Maybe all you people have been listening to it through headphones all these years for the most part. Songs sound slightly different through normal speakers, (better IMO). The quality gets better with the better speakers you have.

Just a suggestion :peace:

Title: Paradise City on a video game commercial
Post by: TrueRock&Roll on January 12, 2008, 11:31:19 PM
Did anyone see this during the New England Patriots game tonight?  It was for some game called Paradise something.  Can't remember the name. I was thinking about the record company maybe wanting to make all the money they can to atleast break even when they release the album.  Maybe putting their songs on commercials is a step towards getting to where the album release needs to be.  Wasn't the only time a Gn'R song was on a commercial for the Harley ad that got removed?

This is the first time i've ever seen a GNR song on a commercial.. To bad, I liked GNR being a band, not being pasted all over products

WTTJ was used in the ads for GTA San Andreas too, the song and Axl himself also appeared in the game so that wasn't too surprising.  I think they also used PC in ads for The Longest Yard remake that came out a couple years ago

I don't feel like GNR's stuff is overly used in marketing for other products.  I'm sure they turn down thousands of requests, and seem to be fairly selective.  GTA:SA was a killer game, and a good use of the song.

'Paradise City' is featured in the game and the city where all the action takes place is even called 'Paradise City'.
You know, when I bought GTA I had never heard 'Free Bird' before. Since I really like that song I tried to find out more about it and bought the Lynyrd Skynyrd box.
I'm sure some of the gamers will share this experience if they hear 'Paradise City' in 'Burnout Paradise' or 'Welcome To The Jungle' in 'GTA San Andreas'.

Yeah well, Lynyrd Skynyrd isn't that popular here. My friends didn't know the song either and we're already 29 - 30 years.

Burnout Paradise will be released next week.

You forgot, that never aired on TV, didnt you?  :P

Plus I forgot about GTA... I dunno, I just prefer not to hear them being used for 30 second product spots...

I think it's been remastered ... sure, that mix is edited together to make the trailer work from a timing standpoint ... but the actual mix sounds a little more punchy.  So they probably EQ'd and compressed it a little :P

And there's the klux of it, Even Guns n' Fuckin' Roses need fresh meat to buy into 'em. The games market is an obvious one. How's about CD Hero, a game just with Chinese Democracy tracks on it, bonus material on different levels

would be great.
You have to pass through a round to get to hear the next song. some will get stuck in the first one forever.

That would be me, but what an incentive to learn to play the game, don't think I could put up with my cock sure son aged 12 taking the piss though....

What if the game is released prior to the album(s) in any other form. Like a few months earlier.
Only the masters of games like your 12 yr old can hear the new songs. Imagine the agony.  :hihi:
