Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: Axlfreek on March 08, 2007, 11:37:48 PM I like the original better, the lyrics seem to make more sense to me then the alternitive lyrics.
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: Robman? on March 08, 2007, 11:49:34 PM I like the original better, the lyrics seem to make more sense to me then the alternitive lyrics. I completely agree. The original's lyrics seem to flow smoothly, like one single idea. The alt. version just seems unnatural to me for some reason. Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: Irish gunner II on March 09, 2007, 10:15:45 AM I like the original lyrics. just the tune of the song sounds better with the original lyrics.

Talk to me softly There's something in your eyes sounds more natural than If we could see tomorrow What of your plans The alternate version is still good though. Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: ChrisPittman on March 09, 2007, 12:57:32 PM Just to be different im gonna say the Alt. Version is my favourite, cause it is, but still I have to say that this is a pretty dead horse of a question lol
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: redx on March 09, 2007, 01:33:21 PM if there hadn't been 2 versions, do you think there would have been one long version. Maybe Don't Cry was just one long sog. I think it works better divided into 2 versions. I like them both :peace:
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: CheapJon on March 09, 2007, 01:45:32 PM come on people, alternate is easily the best, but that's maybe 'cuz i myself is alternate :hihi:
always when i sing along to don't cry the alternate comes automatic and i almost never listen to the original version.. lyrics like: "Times that you took in stride They're back in demand I was the one who's washing Blood off your hands" ^great, and the way these lines below fits in to the music is amazing "And when you're in need of someone My heart won't deny you So many seem so lonely With no one left to cry to baby" awesome :headbanger: Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: redx on March 09, 2007, 02:04:59 PM come on people, alternate is easily the best, but that's maybe 'cuz i myself is alternate :hihi: always when i sing along to don't cry the alternate comes automatic and i almost never listen to the original version.. lyrics like: "Times that you took in stride They're back in demand I was the one who's washing Blood off your hands" ^great, and the way these lines below fits in to the music is amazing "And when you're in need of someone My heart won't deny you So many seem so lonely With no one left to cry to baby" awesome :headbanger: it sure is awesome. Can you imagine Don't Cry without Slash :-\ Slash makes the song what it is :smoking: Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: Ganja4Life on March 09, 2007, 02:49:28 PM to be fair we've never heard fincks take on it :hihi:
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: redx on March 09, 2007, 03:00:38 PM to be fair we've never heard fincks take on it :hihi: I can think of a few reasons why, and It has nothing to do with Finks ability. Don't Cry sounds great on the UYI album, but has never sounded great performed, 'live from a vocal point of view', as Axl doesn't appear to be able to sing the word 'Cry' loudly. That's my take on it :peace: Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: xChaosx on March 09, 2007, 05:09:42 PM I love them both. For some reason the alternate lyrics are more appealing to me. But, I listen to the original more because I find it easier to sing along to (badly) in the shower. :hihi:
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: GeorgeSteele on March 09, 2007, 09:04:54 PM I prefer the alt version, except for the start of the last verse after the guitar solo:
I thought I could live in your world as years all went by just doesn't transition as well off of the guitar solo or have the same intensity of And please remember that I never lied... Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: Alina on March 10, 2007, 11:18:41 AM Its hard to say , but I think I love more alt lyrics , IMO they are more deep :-\
and I think when Axl singed the alt lyrics it sounded more powerful  Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: von on March 11, 2007, 01:46:40 AM I love 'em both, but I like Alt. Lyrics better, always have.
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: ChrisPittman on March 11, 2007, 04:39:44 PM Ensename A Amarte by Roca Eterna claimed to be where this song was 'stolen' from, and if you listen to it, you can't help but deny there's certainly a lot of similarities! : ok:
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: slane92 on March 11, 2007, 05:17:54 PM I prefer the original, but the alt lyrics are pretty good.
Obviously the band felt that both versions were good enough for UYI. Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: ChrisPittman on March 12, 2007, 11:36:10 AM I prefer the original, but the alt lyrics are pretty good. Obviously the band felt that both versions were good enough for UYI. and by the band you mean Axl...since at this point he more then likely owned the rights to the name following the 'Mr Brownstone' incident in LA in 1989 Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: dub05 on March 12, 2007, 12:01:17 PM to be fair we've never heard fincks take on it :hihi: I can think of a few reasons why, and It has nothing to do with Finks ability. Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: alejoyp on March 12, 2007, 02:56:09 PM I like the Alternate version coz the part when Axl sings:
"And when you're in need of someone My heart won't deny you So many seems so lonely With no one left to cry to baby" is the highest point in each versions of the song... And for all those who said that the lyrics of the original version are more "natural" or kinda... that's obvious beacuse we all had listen the original versions a lot of tims more than the other one... Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: Drew on March 12, 2007, 07:17:38 PM I've always enjoyed the altenate lyrics version more. :)
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: snakepiter on March 15, 2007, 11:10:09 PM no no no no!!!! all of you are wrong!!! the best version of don't cry is the demo version that came in the cd single.......
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: GNRforever10 on March 17, 2007, 09:41:02 PM I like the original version but both are good. The original version is the one I dedicated to my ex- fiance in 2000.
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: Communist China on March 17, 2007, 10:04:58 PM The original lyrics just fell right. The alt. seems forced, but they're both good.
Title: Re: What Don't Cry Is Better Post by: WARose on March 18, 2007, 06:12:28 AM i prefer the alt. lyrics version. it simply sounds better imo....
