Nobody expects the album to come out on their personal time table... however when the band, the management, and Axl Rose himself say one thing and fail to deliver, people get frustrated and complain.

I don't think anyone expects their whining to change things.  But talking about their feelings is one way in which people cope with their frustrations.   When the album finally does come out, they'll be singing Axl's praises again, don't you worry.

I think it's easy to lose site of the greater GNR Reality beyond the fanatic message boards...

GnR was the biggest band of their generation, but they've fallen so far off the radar that I doubt most of their long time fans even know who's in the band anymore. ?I'm not talking about people who check the forums. I'm talking about people who love GNR but have gone on with their lives since old band crumbled in the mid-90's. ?

When these people hear that "Guns N' Roses" have a new album, of course they're going to buy it. ?But they'll be expecting something very different than what they're going to get (aka Jimmy Fallon syndrome). ?And when that happens, we might hear a lot more bitching about Axl.

And it's not going to be from die hard loyalists who are pissed about another missed release date... It's going to be from people who are far less forgiving of Axl, and far less willing to accept whoever's in the band at the time as "Guns N' Roses."

Just saying... This album's going to rock our world, but if you're expecting the rest of the world to be as enthusiastic as the people on the GNR Boards, then I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Point is -- is someone wants to be negative, let them. ?Live with it. ?That's the world we live in. ?People have different tastes and different feelings. ?You're never going to change their minds, so don't lose any sleep over it. ?Love what you love and don't waste your time on what other people think.

The press ALWAYS hated Gn'R...........deeply, and it showed!! Their position hasn't changed much over time.........fuck em'

Take a look at all the threads on the first page of this board - they all seem fairly positive to me - except "the dissing...has begun." I think people are just pissed off because Axl said they would be informed if there was any change or if the March 6th date wasn't going to happen. Instead he just went completely quiet. Well, unless you count Del James's letter, I suppose, but that didn't really explain anything. There are also many issues which the fans deserve explanations about (Philadelphia incident, for example). I'm not complaining myself, just saying its understandable some people might have grievences. The good news is threads proclaiming "this is not Guns N' Roses" have for the most part disappeared. I have no problem calling this band Guns N' Roses, but people saying they're better than the original band or that Finck is better than Slash, etc., even though they haven't released any official music, is just rediculous. So saying stuff like that is bound to get some replies which may appear negative.

Anyone who spends 13 years making an album for themselves deserves some criticism.

Unfortunately most fans appreciate nonconformity and rebellion early on in a band's career.  After that, they want things played out exactly like they do in their own minds. Which explains all the armchair band managers on GNR boards giving advice about first singles and marketing schemes.

Well, the Eagles spent 14 years between releases........this is not a precedent........

I love GN'R and Axl, but the backlash is a direct result to THEIR actions. AC/DC has been supposedly making an album for many years now too, and the reason you don't see their fans bitching and moaning like we do is because Angus Young doesn't go on the radio every month and say "It's done. Should be a couple months" Then they don't name a tour after their new album and not deliver it.

We need hobbies? Probably. The album IS coming? Maybe, but you have no way of knowing and you've been saying it's coming so long that your opinon is worthless.

Axl may not owe me an album, but he owes me 135 dollars for getting me to buy tickets and shirts for a concert thinking the album would be out in 2006.

Like I've said - WC knows what he's talkin' about. n' he's telling you how it is, the best way he does. But some people are too idiotic to realize and notice that he hits the nail right on the motherfucking head.

Merck lied? Merck wrote Axl's letter for him, the only knew part was the part where Merck was fired. Anyone who can't see that is..well, lesser. WC I am a GN'R fan. To attack my liking of the band just shows that you can't debate me. It's obvious I like the band, that's why I came here, but I didn't stay for silence. And I'm not leaving, because I still love the band, and enjoy reading intelligent remarks.

Almost Famous- You ever notice how everything WC predicted last year was WRONG? The album didn't come out, GN'R didn't shit on anyone except some fans in Maine and California. His undying optimism and constant comments of "you don't know what happens in GN'R" (reads: "You don't KNOW what happens
IN gn'r) are just deep denial. He speaks as if he knows anyone in the GN'R camp. He doesn't. He knows as much or as little as any poster here, but occasionally wins fans because being an arrogant ass is popular these days. Just watch cable news and it becomes obvious why some people are devoted to her.

You could've replaced WC with CC and said it to WC and the last line at least would've been right.

All I asked was why you applauded him, what he had done to deserve such praise. Since you did not answer that question, I will assume he has accomplished nothing.
