March 6th is just over 2 weeks away. We haven't seen any artwork, advertising, or radio play. So lets not kid ourselves with that date. I think it was very nice of Axl to make the statement he did. It was a bold move announcing a TENTITIVE date and I'm sure everyone involved is trying their hardest to make it happen. We'll know when it's coming out when the band/label announce an official release date not a "tentitive" one. It's close though. Thats the problem we give axl rose too much slack , had it been slash and the gang over at vr taking this long it be "slash can't keep up" or " they lost their creativity" etc... The music is done? said 1000x times , let me tell you something the reason I gave up on the release this year is because it took Axl a decade or more to record , yes that is a fact a decade in the works and now he has to mix? So it never comes out. I have no doubt it's pretty much done, but I also think it's been re-recorded before. I am fully confident it will be an amazing piece of work, and I love and believe in the current configuration of the band, but for whatever reasons (and I am sure there are quite a few) it just never comes out. Could take 2 weeks, could take 3 months. No one knows how long it will take, probably including the people actually mixing the thing (though I'm sure they must have a rough idea).

I think its mental people can be fanatical about albums like Appetite.. but then slate an album like contraband! Dont get me wrong, i hate scott weiland as much as the next, well, probably more, but the riffs and soloing in contraband is top drawer. Obviously its not on a par with the gnr classics, but that doesnt mean its not a credible record with some great tracks. Slither for example is up there with many of gnrs harder tracks. Needless to say, I was very excited about Weiland hooking up with Slash - That being said, I still think it sounds like a juiced up version of STP's Tiny Music album- it did'nt quite " touch the nerve " in me, the way Duff felt it touched the nerve in most people.
