Title: Cream
Post by: Genesis on January 05, 2007, 11:52:13 AM
Have some fresh cream!

I can't believe 70's rock could sound so good, or that Clapton could play this well. I've been listening to Cream non stop for days now... White Room, Crossroads, Strange Brew, Badge...
Check it out.

Blues rock.

Cream rocks. Without Cream, there would be no Zeppelin (I don't really believe  that, I am just trying to provoke someone into a "discussion.")

HAHA the old Devil's Advocate, eh? Well, from what I've read it sounds more like if there were no Yardbirds there would be no Zeppelin. In fact, Zeppelin WAS the "New Yardbirds" after that band basically died off when Clapton and Jeff Beck left.

At any rate, Cream kicks serious ass. But Page is a better guitarist than Clapton (overrated) and the overall musicianship of Led Zeppelin is on a whole different level than Cream. Cream is still a kickass band though. They've put out a few REALLY great songs as the OP of this thread pointed out. One more you didn't mention is "Sunshine Of Your Love." That song is the shiznit. Their best is "White Room" IMHO. I'd put them more in the AC/DC category than Led Zeppelin. The only band that really can hang with Zeppelin in my book is The Beatles.

No, just more typically blues, with less of the various tangents Zep had.

I'm sure you've at least heard "Sunshine of your love" or maybe "White Room". Anyone who says their a poor led zeppelin is an idiot, I'm not saying they're better than Zeppelin but they had so many great songs and were really talented musicians, they were ahead of almost every band of their genre out at that time.

Agreed. So many great songs and to think they were only together for about two years, 1966 - 1968!

Cream Rocks. Highly recommended.

What do Coffee and Eric Clapton have in common?

They both suck without cream.

I don't like Clapton's more recent solo work. (I hate "I Shot the Sheriff", yech.).
Cocaine, Tears in Heaven, maybe...
