He's trying to get on our good side. Not gonna work. When he promotes demonstrations with chants of "Death to America" I hardly believe he thinks Americans are Noble. This guy is not to be trusted. At least in America, a poor leader can be voted out of power. You can not vote out an Ayatollah in Iran. ( I know this guy is not the Ayatollah, but Ajaminejad's ( spelling?) election was a bit shady at best)

Ahmedinejad is an odd character (not spelling). I think he thinks Americans are noble but the government isnt noble.

Thank you for the post. I know there are allot of young people in here, but what you need to know is that you wouldn't even be SEEING this if it weren't for the internet. This one forum within htgth represents a fraction of what is occuring right now all over the internet on a massive scale.

If this was happening 20 years ago, the American people would continue thinking that the leader of Iran just wants to kill every Jewish person on the planet. This is because the media, crooked or not, only has so much time to tell stories.

This perspective.... one of a 36 year old who can clearly remember what life was like in America 20 years ago, is the reason why I like the show update threads ("as it happens"), and is also the reason why I like Live web cams. And is the reason why this thread is the most important one on the entire forum right now... whether you believe the Iranian President or not. His words would have been silenced back in the days of Daddy Bush's administration because there WAS no internet.

Now let's just keep it civil and non-political so this thread can remain.

This is his third attempt to reach out. The first two times he was ignored. Bush and Germany.

I think he should be heard, and have a chance to speak.

Would be interesting if Bush were to respond with his own internet letter, but you know what that would lead to - the UN would ultimately be replaced by a HTGTH-style world leader internet forum.  I wonder who'd be the first person to get banned.

Anyone who opposes US rule.

...

 : ok: Well said

@SLC: you can?t blame Germany for not negotiating with Ahmadinedschad, As a German I also don?t discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with foreigners anymore because with even the slightest criticism against Israel I?m immediately just some dumb Nazi? :(. Imagine the media reaction if Germany started talking with the Iranian government...

He should reach out with actions, not propoganda.  Don't fall for it.

Yea.........propaganda, like "Mushroom Cloud", or "WMD", or "We will be treated like Liberators", or "the oil will help pay for the reconstruction of Iraq."

That kind of propaganda?

Sorry, I gotta agree with Berkeley here...talk is cheap, as any American should know by looking at the last 6 years.  If Iran wants to be taken seriously by us "noble americans" maybe they should stop financing the terror groups and teaching their kids "death to america" every morning.  I do think discussion is necessary but REAL talk, not an open letter to the US people via the internet.

Talk is cheap, that is my point. It's a two way street.

The guy is a dirtbag, but so is our president.

He wrote a letter to Bush which was ignored.

He wrote another letter which Germany ignored.

This letter doesnt mean shit. Actions speak louder than words. And this guy has shown nothing.

Diddnt he want to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth a little while back? Also saying the holocaust did not exist? Dealing with someone who is unpredictable and irresponsible is playing with fire.

Cheney and Co. already sold nuclear components to Iran in the 90's. Just like Rumsfeld sold weapons to Iraq in the 80's. We don't have to fire nukes to be mass murderers, and we've sold the middle east plenty.

I believe this guy is reaching out for something. Maybe instead of doing nothing we should talk to him. Nothing will hurt to talk to the guy. We can say the "p" word all day long, but that is a waste of time, since Bush has done nothing but the same.

This letter doesnt mean shit. Actions speak louder than words. And this guy has shown nothing.

Neither has Bush, in fact he has nothing but the opposite.

Yea, he said he wanted to blow Israel off the map. It's called posturing to his base. Israel has one of the largest nuke programs out there, Iran is hardly a threat.

I don't think the US as a nation will be able to talk to anyone until after the 2008 elections.  Bush has lost all credability with the world as well as his own people/nation.  Lame Duck isn't the word....
