Title: Soda Explotion, any scientists in the house? Post by: EFISH on September 08, 2006, 10:38:30 PM Haha ok so just now i went into the kitchen and grabbed the 2 liter bottle of Pepsi. It's about half empty and I went to unscrew the cap and it came flying out of my hands and flew like litterally 10 feet away. Then the top of the soda bottle has like misty/fog type of stuff coming out the bottle. I didnt shake it up at all, anyone know whats the science behind this weird event? :D

Title: Re: Soda Explotion, any scientists in the house? Post by: Genesis on September 09, 2006, 12:05:27 AM The soda is carbonated. This fizzes out into CO2. The bottle is sealed so the pressure builds up. When u open the bottle, the gas comes out at high pressure, causing whatever u described above.
