I'm a big Shinedown fan, myself.

Their cover of Tull's "Simple Man" is a favorite of mine, but all their original stuff rocks, too.

i've never gotten into them. something about their sound on their record - i just can't get into it. i'm not sure if it's the singers voice that bothers me or what.

but i saw them live (with silvertide) and they were awesome. they rock in person. it was hard for me to picture them being the same band. i'd def go check them out again.

(by the way, "simple man" is a skynyrd song. one of my fav songs ever made.)

Obviously you're right.  For some reason I was having an Aqualung Brain Fart....

I absolutely love Shinedown.

There a modern rock band getting radio airplay and the recognition they deserve, but whats more is that they dont sound like everything else there being played with on rock radio!

I own Leave a Whisper, and Us & Them, and while I love the straight ahead, heaviness of their first album, their latest is a more melodic, and poppy effort : ok:

Someone should introduce Axl to these guys!

There a band that I might pay attention to instead of drink all the way through :hihi:

Saw these guys last night. I was surprised by how many songs I knew....almost every song I've heard on the radio.....great show. Won the tickets off of the radio and also got a meet and greet. The meet and greet was great, better than any other band i've seen. We all had dinner at this restaraunt in the Rio Hotel. There were only about 6 people there for the meet and greet, so it was me, my girlfriend, the bands 2 guitarists and bass player at one table and the singer, drummer and 4 other people at another table. Just sat there and BS'd for about an hour. The food was great too. Sonmebody brought a guitar for them to all sign, and the bass player got it first and he asked the guy his name to he could sign it "To: xxxx"....but the guy said he didn't want it personalized,  so the bass player signed it "To Ebay - frankenstien"

nick perri is leaving Shinedown. it's a shame for them cause he's an incredible guitar player.

and unfortunately he's not going back to Silvertide either. he wants to be a leader and start his own project.

It 's true:

From Nicks myspace:

I'll never forget the phone call between Brent Smith and myself last year. He offered me an incredible opportunity - one that I am grateful for, one that I have never taken for granted, and one that I will always cherish. The truth is however, after 10 months something inside of me just doesn't feel right. This is a personal matter and has NOTHING to do with the band, our amazing crew, or inspiring team of In De Goot management, and Atlantic Records. They have ALL made me feel welcome, and for that I thank them. Truth be told, I gave this my BEST shot. I have never done anything half way, and SHINEDOWN is no exception. It is my belief that the band is on a path towards greatness and no one can change or stop that. It is one though, that I will not be traveling. I have decided to leave the band, and make my own path. Respectfully, I will bow out at the end of this year, and I wish them nothing but the best in their collective quest to make great music, and bring it to the world. I have loved these guys since the day we met 6 plus years ago, and I will love them till the end. I thank all of you, the fans - without whom NONE of our lives would be the same - for all of the love and support you showed me in joining last year. You made me feel welcome, and I appreciate that more than I could put into words. Please know how much you mean to everyone involved in SHINEDOWN, and how much you mean to me, personally. On a final note I wanted to thank my brothers - Brent, Barry, Zach, and Eric. You guys are the best musicians I've ever known, and are inspiring both onstage and off. I know your all heart, and that's what makes the difference. My best wishes go out to you, and your families, and I thank you with all the love in my heart for the last year. It was unforgettable.

Nick Perri

Anyone heard the new album? It's great. Best album from anyone I've heard in a LONG time.
