Title: why are objective threds beeing locked down?
Post by: Nytunz on June 01, 2006, 08:42:02 AM
Grizzly made a fair post earlier..

Give the guy a break. He was just excpressing hes feeling, and told that he was afraid to be let down.
Why dont try suport him. And make him belive, its gonna be good, insted of ripping him down?

Grizzly- the reason you may not feel the same about this line up YET. Could be that this new line up never has released any albums or basicly any
material at all. All u have in memory of this line up is the badsounding bootleg clips witch you see on the internet! Im sure when ur in Oslo
listening to the opening to welcome to the jungle, you will feel a bit different. I know its not easy for alot off the old fans, to forget the nostalgi
from the old band. And that is just a natural feeling. Even giving Axl a a new chance and support the new line up, is very very nice! Since we basicly
dont know how any of the album matereal actuelly will be. I love the old GNR also. But i have also came to love the new GNR line up alot! They have really
worked hard to make this happen. And the bandspirit looks great! Its 14 years since GNR was on stage, and by that time they was the greatest band in the world. AND YOU WAS ALOT YOUNGER! That is very imoportant. You were young and lived by GNR! Alot of Kids do that. Including me. Just hope Kids in will feel the same about the new GNR today! That would be great!

I think its important that the board is a bit more objective.. Let people excpress theyr feelings... and dont shoot people down
if they are afraid GNR wont do it as good as it was back in the days.. there is alot of NOSTALIG HERE!

Try to help, show them your opinions, isteed of just locking everything witch is not 100% positive.
let people say what they have on mind... i understand if its just talking shit after shit about the band.. but Grizzlys post was objektive..

And what do you mean his post was objective? It was opinion, as is 99.9% of the stuff on this board.

I agree with Tomorrows. The guy obviously had an opinion(maybe a valid one), but it has been discussed so many times, and you also need to take into consideration that there are identical threads all over the place. He didnt need to make a new thread to make his point.

As far as I know "bumping up old threads' is not allowed here and it'll get locked in minutes (except if it's one of those 'The Blues still impresses me a lot' threads).

I've noticed in the last few weeks, a few of my posts have been removed - gone without a trace.

I like to think of myself as a balanced poster, able to give praise and critisism both when required.

Recently deleted posts of mine have been ones where Ive questioned Axls tardiness and the live shows in general. I feel from what Ive heard, that some aspects of the shows have been lacklustre.

In turn, the posts where I have praised Axl or the new band (the majority), are still present.

May I ask, is there a new policy in place that basically removes the existence of objective criticism?

Bashing for the sake of bashing has no place here, but surely you encourage open and good natured discusssion? Or has there been a change there?

There is no change of policy that I'm aware of. As far as I'm concerned, the only posts that are deleted are those that contain links to leaks, requests for those links or parts of entire threads that go to the trash can because they were created by trolls.

Right, but if all the redundant threads were locked or deleted, this site would be a fraction of what it is. The fact is that the same issues have been discussed over and over, ad naseum, for years. And still the same topics get posted. Some get locked, some moved, others not. The mods are not professionals  and (probably) not remunerated, but still, there is a lot of inconsistency. Some mods do a good job, others not so much, but who am I to bitch because it is not something I would want to do or would accept (not that I would be asked--please, no snide comments, I am trying to be fair  here).
