No way. Both the Beatles and Led Zeppelin made plenty of silly songs and mediocre songs. Both bands had masterpieces, but most of their songs either needed improvement or needed to be aborted. Most masterpiece type bands are those that put out an album or two and then break up. Bands that stay around for long enough will experiment and eventually make bad songs. That said, the closest I could find for a "masterpiece" band is Symphony X. They constantly put forward amazing musicianship, original songs, and interesting lyrical themes. None of their albums is bad, and most of their songs could be considered masterpieces, at least technically. Death comes close to being a masterpice band, but the mediocre Individual Thought Patterns album takes them down. Title: Re: MASTER PIECES (SONGS) Post by: journey on May 22, 2006, 06:43:45 PM GN'R - November Rain ~ Sweet Child O' Mine ~ Civil War ~ (many others)

I find they have a similar sound and feel to them as some Sym X songs - sort of like a ballsier version of Symphony X :) Nevermore=Neverchug. Chug chug chug. Their guitars are downtuned stupidly low and they rely heavily on groove instead of memorable riffs. The production only amplifies this. They are simply too modern. Symphony X isn't a stranger to shiny production, but they can back it up and they don't overdo it. I listen to a lot of classic thrash, so I always end up comparing Nevermore to it, unfavorably. Symphony X, however, has good songwriting skills, so they often surpass their shred predecessors, like Cacophony. They don't go too overboard on the solos, etc. Title: Re: MASTER PIECES (SONGS) Post by: Thorned Rose on May 23, 2006, 11:43:26 AM Guns N Roses "Estranged" "Coma" Prince "Little Red Corvette" "Do Me Baby" "Adore" "1999" "When Doves Cry,Purple Rain,Sign O The Times, 7,Most Beautiful Girl In The World,The Holy River,Million Days,Erotic City,Lets Go Crazy,The Continental, Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under The Bridge,My Friends,Soul to Squeeze,Otherside,Californication,Dosed,Dont Forget Me,Tear,Venice Queen,Wet Sand,Hard To Concentrate,Slow Cheetah,Stadium Arcadium,Tell Me Baby As much as I like you D, and Bon Jovi ... 1 album like Stadium Arcadium can't have that many masterpieces. A TRUE masterpiece of a song. They're an awesome folk metal band, and that song is 15 minutes of the most melancholy and bleak music you'll ever hear. It's EPIC, it can make you feel empty inside or warm and fuzzy depending how you approach it. The song amazes me everytime I hear it, it's just a song that reminds you how great music can be and it's a shame that most other bands can't produce ART like this. fade to black-metallica, that song makes me wanna cry cemetary gates by pantera so fekin' amazin' everlong by the foo's is a great song, just so pretty and then theres the obvious gn'r ones, november rain, estranged etc. i would consider them works of art yes hehehe master of puppets is an amzing song, but i'm not sure if i would consider it a 'master piece', i suppose i would to a certain extent, depending on what you see as master piece. if i love a song i amkes me wanna cry because i love it so much,i dont love master of puppets that much, despite its amazing ness. i love dead horse, because its good to get yourself out of a bad mood. but theres a difference between songs you love and songs you think are master pieces as someone before ha spointed out.
