Seriously, though...book recommendations are tough...tougher than music, IMHO.?

With the way GnR has gone, I'd recommend the Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown, for sure.? Axl seems to be a bit into the whole conspiracy theory thing, so....I think he'd like it.

I'd also recommend The Alienist by Caleb Carr

and Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson.

Also, the Goodkind "Sword of Truth" series.? It's got some neat underlying political themes and allegory.

Edit: Oh, and there's NO WAY your avatar could kick my avatars ass...it's BATMAN, for Gods sake! :)

Sabriel, Lirael & Abhorsen. An absolutely amazing trilogy by a very talented author called Garth Nix! But in all fairness I sure Axl will read whatever he wants! Mike

Heh. I actually decided to read "A Scanner Darkly" on the advice of Uncle Axl when that Rolling Stone interview came out. I had always meant to read something by Philip K. Dick, I was in between books at that time and the movie is forthcoming, so the timing was perfect. And I have to say, I really enjoyed the hell out of that book. It wasn't what I expected, but it was definitely worth reading and I am intrigued to see how they handle certain things in the movie version.

Thanks Axl!

I would recommend the "Otherland" series by Tad Williams. There are 4 books: just read the first one to check it out (City of Golden Shadows) and I guarantee you will want to read the others. Picking other books at random off the top of my head, I would add "Franny and Zooey" by J.D. Salinger, "The Book of Daniel" by E.L. Doctorow and "Wouldn't it Be Nice?" by Brian Wilson.

The book that he stole his album title from ( Chinese Democracy written by Andrew J. Nathan). He's probably already read it though.

that's the main thing that gets me about when he sent the offspring the c&d order when they were gonna call Splinter, Chinese Democracy (you snooze you lose). not only can you not copyright or trademark a title, but he didn't even come up with the damn title himself!

i think the author has started writing prequels for the series - so we could be waiting for a very long time for chinese democracy to come out.  maybe axl can change the name of the album to 'the wheel of time'.
Didn't thought about that ;D

:hihi: Yeah, there are alot of parrells between that series and Chinese Democracy.  I think before the last 2 books, they've been saying "It'll only go 1 or 2 more books, guaranteed"   "CD will be out in another year, absolutely"

I also stopped reading a few books ago.  When I got to the point where I was hallucinating the plots and characters during the birth of my daughter, I figured it was PROBABLY time to take a short break.  I have to reread all of them every time a new one comes out, and it was getting ridiculous!

When I have CD and the last book, my life will be complete...nothing more to wait on the edge of my seat for! ;D
