Title: fuse countdown F list (dudes with tudes)
Post by: mikegiuliana on March 17, 2006, 08:14:33 AM
gnr came in number 2 in the dudes with attitudes countdown-they played PC

Number one was nirvana, they had such attitude :hihi:

Nice to see gnr did so well. It's voted on by the public on the fuse website

Now mind you, if it was dudes with feuds, GNR'd be #1!

I dont watch TV that much anymore, but whenever I used to watch Fuse they never played GNR. It was like 90% newer bands and a little bit of old mixed in. Good to know they are starting to have GNR on there. I guess they probably had them on there before, I just didnt see it.

it's not that they are having gnr on there, they have this thing called the F list... it's always the top ten bands in a category.. Gnr also made it with something else, oh it was anthems... Everyone knows paradise city...  it was like number 6 I think, songs like big pimpin, or rock n roll all night and party every day were other examples..

The one girl was like you play PC at a bar and everyone gets up.. So true, have done it so many times... Everyone at least knows a few versus

Well, I would say Nirvana had attitude... when Axl kissed Kurt's ass at the MTV music awards Kurt moked him to his face in front of the whole room asking him to be Francis' godfather. He was also impossible to interview, unlike MTV friendly Axl. I love GnR but Nirvana IMHO really are a better more consistant band.

AFD came out when I was 15 and got me thru some tough times but after UYI I really felt like GnR was High School and Nirvana was College. It really felt like Nirvana was higher education, Nirvana never had a "Shotgun Blues", "My World" or "Get In The Ring". Kurt never swam with dolphhins.

I love GnR but Nirvana they aren't.

afd always blows in utero away, no band in history can compete with nevermind, and it's not because it's teh best.. Take kurt cobain's death away and it wouldn't be as high... SLTS is listed as the number one rock song in many countdowns, that alone shows the polls are fucking wrong..

You must be at the wrong forum.

AFD ranks higher on every albums list I have ever seen.

While Nevermind is usually ranked, In Utero is ranked somewhere between Spaghettit Incident and Hanson's first album.

I loved nirvana, I remember picking up nevermind in my sophmore or junior year... The first time I heard Slts I was like what a rocking song, but what the fuck is the guy saying and who is the band

Good one. ?Yeah I can't see In Utero ranking higher than the Illusions, for sure. ?And it's definitely not AFD competitive. ?Nevermind vs. AFD is a tough call for a lot of people. ?I'd pick AFD. ?Of course, they're up there together with AC/DC - Back in Black, Metallica - Metallica, Led Zeppelin - [untitled], The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Pearl Jam - Ten, and Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. ?They're all exceptional albums. ?Forgive me if I've left out any.

Actually, you were right, but Nirvana usually topped GNR in some categories like Top videos, singles, etc.

I have never seen Nevermind ranked higher than AFD on any albums lists, although there is probably a few lists out there where Nevermind is ranked higher.

i've seen it both ways on many occassions over the years, I have seen slts ranked higher then november rain.. It's just a poll

Don't get me wrong.... Kurt was a dick and I know that I would never want to hang out with him. I am pretty sure I would have more fun with Axl in a strip club than Kurt at his dealer's house.

Also, when he called out Axl he was just being a bully... like the ones he supposedly resented his whole life. He was a hypocrite.

No, don't do that. I wasn't trying to stir the pot. I just don't think that Nirvana's place on the pole was laughable... it seemed pretty resonable to me.

I remember when MTV did that. NR was ranked 2. Teen Spirit was ranked 1. Funny how they didnt rank the most requested video of all time(at that time) Sweet Child o Mine as number 1.

Axl wasn't even the most badass member in GN'R...
But Guns should be #2 on that list... Ozzy #1. Seriously, the guy bit the head off a dove for fucksake!

I've seen many lists with Nevermind over AFD, You guys have to remember Nevermind is credited for starting a "revolution" in music.
Personally It's AFD > Nevermind. I only like two songs of Nevermind and those are Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are.

The only albums of the last 25 years I'd understand being above Appitite are Thriller and Nevermind.

^actually in vh1's top 100 songs of the past 25 years it was
3. SCOM
2. Billy Jean - Michael Jackson
1. Smells Like teen spirit

Kurt cobain was a terrible terrible guitarist but amazing writer, but he just didnt make good music with the lyrics in my opinion.  As for bad ass, nirvana was not.  Nirvana was pretty far away from that, kurt himself always bitched about getting beat up in high school which is not bad ass at all, its pathetic.  Axl bitches about how people fuck him over and he is sensitive and is an ass hole like kurt blowbrains, but at least axl has a medical condition, kurt was just a little bitch.  I give Kurt BlowBrains all the credit in the world for writing great songs but bad ass? fuck no.  No one in nirvana was bad ass.  There were 5 guys in gnr who were bad ass.

just my 2 cents

afd is better I said that but it((nevermind) is seen as the death blow to a movement that owned music for a decade.. I never looked at never mind as grunge, just like AIC, or STP I always looked at it as rock music

I never understood why some people labeled STP as grunge. They clearly were not. How could anyone have listened to core and thought that was grunge? Same with AIC. When I seen them live when Facelift first came out, they opened for Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth. Do people think those bands are grunge too? :hihi:

I also put Soundgarden in that category as well. Just listen to Louder than Love and Badmotorfinger. That is clearly not grunge.

It's interesting that when you really break it down.... Nirvana's "legendary" reputation is based mostly on the sea change they initiated in popular music (and demonstrated by the flood of similar bands that followed) as opposed to  Nirvana's actual MUSIC itself. SLTS is a legendary tune... Nirvana MTV Unplugged is a legendary performance/cd... after that it all pretty much tails off for Nirvana itself though... it's almost like Nirvana's given bonus points for: (a) the success that bands like Pearl Jam, STP, Soundgarden, Collective Soul, Soul Asylum, Creed, etc. had after Nirvana hit the scene; AND (b) all the supposed legendary albums Cobain would have authored had he stuck around [although judging by his full body of work (and not just the opening riff to SLTS)... I'm not convinced of that fact at all]...

As far as who had the best "attitude"... I don't really fucking know... Axl and Kurt were very similar in a lot ways though (more so than people on this board care to acknowledge)... Axl had the balls to criticize and disrespect KISS and Iron Maiden when he was a young hot shot.... and likewise, Cobain had the balls to call Axl out at the peak of Axl's powers (not an easy thing to do in 1992)... that took guts since the whole industry and public had basically put GN'R on a pedastal and annointed them the "next Rolling Stones" etc... I may not have agreed with Cobain... but that showed a certain amount of attitude... he could have just gone after easier targets like Poison, Motley Crue, Warrant, Bon Jovi, etc... but instead he took on GN'R...

I give major credit to Axl for recognizing the significance and brilliance of Nirvana though... Cobain acted like an ignorant close-minded fuck when it came to GN'R music...

When did Axl disrespect KISS and Iron Maiden?

I believe at the Donnington shows in 1988... there's actually a video clip of it out there too if you look hard enough... anyway a British reporter asks Axl if Guns N' Roses has anything in common with KISS or Iron Maiden... and Axl says something like: "God I hope not." The interviewer asks Axl to clarify and he basically just said that KISS and Maiden put their primary focus on selling records and fucking chicks first... then the music, but that with GN'R the music comes first always, but even so... they still find enough time for chicks. :peace:

He does say that he respected both bands' "earlier" work though...

Nice fuckin' post man, but I feel that Nirvana would have been nothing more than a flash in the pan had the bitch not killed himself.  People give them credit for killing G'N'R but G'N'R actually killed themselves.  I still think it's sad that a band with so little talent can even be compared with G'N'R

Axl dissed Paul Stanley (Kiss) on 2nd October 1987 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands:

Before the second song Move To The City, Axl talks about how some older generation rockstars got a lot of shit to say about GN'R. He says GN'R aren't trying to be nobody but themselves and that "people like Paul Stanley from Kiss can suck my dick! And some of these old guys, that say we're ripping them off, maybe they should listen to some of their earlier albums and remember how to play them".

Check the htgth history  :hihi:

If you asked the general public to name all the Nirvana they know they could probably only name 1 (Smells Like Teen Spirit).

Now if you asked the general public to name all the GnR songs they know they could probably name 4 (WTTJ, SCOM, November Rain, Paradise City)

Nirvana are over rated, I'm not saying they helped grunge music to be born but they are still over rated, if Kurt had not died I bet there would be less hype about them.

Uncle Axl better check himself, shit, I bought Rock in Rio (2001).  Iron Maiden sounds as good as they would have in the 80's, while at the same festival, Axl was there with a completely different lineup and sounded like crap.  Funny how shit's coming back to bite him in the ass.

Plus, AFD has sold 5 million more copies than Nevermind, thats in the U.S. alone.? Compare that to Europe, where there no one gives a damn about Nirvana.? Nirvana has sold 25 million albums compared to GN'R's 37 million, and think of all those "special" box sets, best of's, and unreleased material they've released.?
BTW, how many riots did Cobain start? ;D? Axl's the baddest motherfucker ever, Fuse's fans totally missed the mark on this one.

I had thought you made a really good point until today. I just arrived in London today, in the tube and Piccadilly Circus alone I saw 4 Nirvana shirts... guess how many GnR shirts I saw?

None.

Also, AFD was big in 87, Nevermind got big in 1991. AFD had a 4 year head start.
