Title: Working Out Post by: Markus Asraelius on March 06, 2006, 12:40:26 PM So, anyways, I picked up this magazine and it had all-day abs where you could do like 18 different exercises to build your abs. The morning and evening exercises are meant to be done every day. And, the afternoon exercises are with weights and they're meant to be done every 2 or 3 days.
So, that leads me to my question. And, maybe D can help me with this one since he works out. But, is it safe to do exercises such as crunches, leg-raises, sit-ups, etc... to build up for abs everyday or should you only do them every otherday or so? I'm only asking cause it was my my understanding that you shoulden't just do them everyday because you could hurt yourself in the long-run. But, this magazine has exercises that they say you can do everyday. So, which one is it? Title: Re: Working Out Post by: Acquiesce on March 06, 2006, 03:08:36 PM I am not 100% positive but I think the every other day rule only applies to when working out with weights.
Title: Re: Working Out Post by: Eazy E on March 06, 2006, 03:17:29 PM It might depend on how heavy of an ab workout you do... there's a great thread on exercise in the Sports section.

Okay, thank you Eazy E. Title: Re: Working Out Post by: SLCPUNK on March 06, 2006, 07:37:06 PM Abs are made in the kitchen. When I eat correctly they start to pop in less then a month. A you need then is a bit of ab work. Everyday is fine though if you are curious.
You can do all the ab work in the world, but if you don't have proper diet along side it you are wasting your time. That's very true. If you have fat on your belly, you won't see the muscles, no matter how toned they are. It is possible to do over work your abs and actually increase the mass which increases your waist line. But that might be more of a problem for women. Title: Re: Working Out Post by: Eazy E on March 07, 2006, 12:41:52 AM I think I read somewhere that there's a really small percentage (maybe less than 20%?) that can have their abs showing and be healthy. I could be wrong!

Sorry didnt see this thread. SLC is correct takes the proper diet, lots of cardio... IF u have a big belly, u can do setups for 20 hours a day and u will never see an ab pop out. u will build strong abs underneath the fat, but until u remove the fat u will never see them. If u plan on workin out though and losing the fat, I recommend doing them cause after u get rid of the fat through dieting and running they will already be there. I havent done a sit up in probably 4 years but Ive lost about 25 pounds recently and my 4 pack pops out like a motherfucker, but thats cause I already had them built up from a few years ago of hard core ab training. so combine all three, diet, cardio and ab workouts and if u stay religiously dedicated, u should start seeing big time results in about 4 to 6 weeks depending on how overweight u are. Ive heard everyone has a 6 pack, it just takes the proper diet and workout to get rid of the fat that hides them. I weigh 218 pounds and have a very nice 4 pack workin on the 6 which will take a while. so u dont have to be ultra skinny to have one. Title: Re: Working Out Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on March 07, 2006, 11:08:58 AM I'm starting to do abs in my place but not with weight on it, I just run 30 min a day and then I do like 60 abs session cause my freaking belly started to hurt so I think doing it religiously (24/7) is not going to make my abs pop out or is it?
Title: Re: Working Out Post by: Markus Asraelius on March 07, 2006, 11:37:13 AM So what exactly did I say to make people think I was overweight?
D and SLCPunk... I'm 5'8 and 135 pounds. My abs are showing very vividly right now. I was just wondering how often I was supposed to exercise. I'm in excellent shape, I sleep good, eat pretty well and am skinny, all good things if you want those abs from what people tell me. ;D Title: Re: Working Out Post by: D on March 07, 2006, 02:52:56 PM U can do em every single day if u want.
If they are super sore though u may wanna do them every other day. Just be sure u hit each different ab, u got the obliques, upper adominals and then the lower abdominals, I dont know the technical name for them but u get the idea, u want to be sure to hit all of your abs and not just one section of them. Dick Purple abs have a lot to do with what percentage body fat u are. I heard u have to be under 16 percent to see a 4 and under 10 to have an entire 6 but Im not exactly positive on those figures. Title: Re: Working Out Post by: Markus Asraelius on March 07, 2006, 02:55:27 PM My cousin said it was less than 3 percent to see all 6.
I see 4 on my chest and just a little bump on the lower 2 but they're not quite abs yet. Title: Re: Working Out Post by: D on March 07, 2006, 03:20:52 PM no u dont have to be less than 2 to see a 6 pack, getting under 2 percent is almost impossible.
U gotta get under 10 percent to see a 6 pack. now under 3 would give u the ripped "Brad Pitt" fight club ab look but u can still see a 6 pack under 10 percent. Title: Re: Working Out Post by: Markus Asraelius on March 07, 2006, 03:31:04 PM no u dont have to be less than 2 to see a 6 pack, getting under 2 percent is almost impossible. Even if I eat super clean and work hard, and my abs pop, I'll still have a little bit at the bottom.............but then, I'm old. :P Title: Re: Working Out Post by: Markus Asraelius on March 08, 2006, 11:37:41 AM Yeah the lower abs are the hardest to get because that's where all the fat on a man goes.
When a man gets fat, it shows on his gut. Title: Re: Working Out Post by: mikegiuliana on March 08, 2006, 11:38:20 AM http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=16156.0
