Hey don't get me wrong, new video games are cool too.

I still play my N64 games like 007 Golden Eye, Mario 64, South Park and Nightmare Creatures.

For PS1, I like the old Resident Evil games, Syphon Filter, Die Hard Trilogy and other stuff.

Anyone remember Duke Nukem? I loved those games like Total Meltdown and Time to Kill, he was an awesome character.

Duke Nukem was great. Did you know that it is sort of like the Chinese Democracy of video games? A loyal following keeps waiting for the next one, but it never comes. :hihi: I'm not much of a Syphon Filter or Die Hard fan, but I loved Resident Evil. I played Resident Evil 4 on Gamecube last year, and it is the absolute best game of the series.
 I never play the old games anymore. I kind of moved on from that, although my 6 year old cousin plays GoldenEye, and I ocassionally have to help him get through a level. :hihi: But there were some great games on those old systems. Now if I play games, its games on XBOX or Gamecube. Last game I played was Kong, and it was great. Speaking of PS1, did you ever play Castlevania or Skullmonkeys? With the exception of football, those are my two favorite games on that system.

Like Chinese Democracy, Duke Nukem Forever is coming sooner than you guys think. I give it a 90% chance of a screenshot/teaser release when Prey comes out, and release next year's summer. For CD, I predict singles coming out this Christmas, and the album released early next year. You heard it here first!  : ok:

The Underdogs is definitely the best abadonware site for computer games. Console ROMS are everywhere, just google for them. I enjoy old SNES games on emulator. In fact, I enjoy them even more than on the original system because I always played on a terrible TV, and I have a nice monitor now. Plus, netplay and quick saves are nice extra features.

I still have my Nintendo Entertainent System, and yes I still play Mario Bros. 3 and Ninja Gayden also in N64 I play Ocarina of Time thats just great  : ok:

on ps1 my favorite game ever was the twisted metel series and re3 and 2 were also great but now i have moved on to the xbox just cant get enough of Halo and Halo2

Hell Yeah!! I just finished Dragon Quest 8, took 112 hours to conquer.

I loved that game!! I conquered it last year, and its one of the best xbox games I ever played. My favorite xbox games are the Splinter Cell series and the Hitman series. Max Payne and Max Payne 2 were pretty cool also, but it was too easy. Only takes a couple hours to conquer each of those games. Those call of duty games are awesome if you're into war games. On the last one they released, I almost went insane trying to pass this one German level. You're surrounded by some troops and tanks and have to make it to this bridge. It took me all night.

I went through a phase of downloading old Amstrad CPC games that I played in the 80s a couple of years ago. The games are awesome, having not the technology to have mindblowing graphics, the programmers had to compensate with truly great gameplay - something that is sorely lacking these days.

Well I conquered the game ages ago, but its fucking damn funny, also Ninja Gaiden pleeeeeeeeease!

I had the luck to have 2 sistems, I played Super Mario Bros. 2 for Nintendo and Killer Instinct, MK3, among those that I can remember for SNES, I must tell you that my all time favorite game is Super Mario Bros 2 damn I was an expert...

Castlevania SOTN (PS1) - best adventure/exploration game ever... kicked ass
Zelda (NES) - just awesome.. cant put it into words.
Dragon Warrior (Original NES) - nothing like level grinding
Dragon Warrior VII (PS1)- Just freaking cool.
Castlevania IV (SNES) - Great music

The only single player games I've truely enjoyed this generation are Metroid Prime and MGS3. Metroid Prime being the better of the two. Nothing like an exploration game

I still dust off my SNES a lot to play a lot of my old games and I didn't actually get an N64 until last year for 29 dollars. Tons of good games in the catalogue and now I don't have to pay 60-70 dollars for them either!

Have you played Donkey Kong on N64 yet? Great game. The Mia Hamm soccer game was pretty cool also.

I got Donkey Kong 64, but unfortunately I have no expansion pack so I can't play it. I did really enjoy it when I initially played it in 2000 though. Somehow it didn't quite shake me like the original did in 1994 though.

Get the expansion pack on ebay. When my 6 year old cousin got an N64, I got him an expansion pack on ebay for just a few dollars specifically for him to play Donkey Kong. It is a great game, but yeah you're right. Doesn't blow you away like it did on Super Nintendo.

Yeah, we played it all the time, and playing one shot kill improves you to no end! All about the reaction time...

Since that and Perfect Dark I hadn't really got into another first person shooter, so it was kinda depressing when I got an Xbox 360 the other week, played Perfect Dark and I was shit...It has been a few years, but I was fucking awful.

But, I am getting a lot better.  8)

A great game for N64 is South Park, type in the cheat BOBBYBIRD and you have everything.



Ever played Mortal Kombat's Mythologies:Sub Zero for PS1? it's called something like that. that was my first game for the system. It was very dark and unique, awesome game.

i hope he has played Halo2 before cus if not he is really missing out but i still think the original Halo levels in campagn are better but multiplayer kiks ass in Hallo2

Everyone is awful at console shooters.  ;) Get Zdaemon and play some online Doom. I occasionally play when I don't have projects to finish. The original Doom is still the best first person shooter game ever made. Doom multiplayer is simply more fun than Counterstrike or whatever the fad is these days.

And I doubt anyone today uses a computer too slow for Doom. It would have to be over a decade old.

As for pistols, yeah, the Complex. But it's a toss-up between that and the full Library. Both are excellent for pistols.

And of course the Archives are always fun every now and again.

And yes to gamer #1; the PC affords a much better chance of mastery than does a console. But you're still as useless as the tits on a bull... :)

We did play the golden almost as regularly as well, when we first started...

We used time limits because we were big fans of playing either all against all or two on two, and trying to hold the area with the Golden gun. In complex, it was the bit with the ramp that had the window.

Pistols would be for serious sessions. You know, marathon limit, aliances formed and broken and friendships lost...the good ol' days.

Mines or Rocket Launchers (yeah, we did Temple to. It was the only one I remember that 'worked' with Rocket Launchers) for a bit of a laugh...

The only games I've played properly since the N64 died are 13 for playstation and Elder Scrolls IV on the PC.............

Final Fantasy 8 was and always will be the best videogame ever created though. I still remember the very first time I played that game I was absolutely hooked and fuckin' mezmerized at first hour of play : ok:

I know Final Fantasy 7 gets the most props in the series, but 8 was just a one in a million game....The love story was brilliantly written too, but that probably doesnt belong in a video game thread :P

I've actually been kinda bored of videogames lately. Sometimes I can be a huge addict of them, but then there's times like now when I can't really get into them. I haven't played a truly *great* one since the summer (Xenogears for PS1). Although, I did enjoy Star Ocean 3, which I beat a couple months ago. I'm just lookin forward to the new Zelda and FF12 now.

I beat the first Resident Evil with Chris just a couple weeks ago, it was the first time I've ever beat it with Chris (though I've beaten it with Jill at least 10 times over the years).

And not necessarily an old game, but an old school type game I play a lot is Baseball Mogul ... for those unfamiliar, it's a basically a text simulation where you run your own baseball team from an Owner/GM/Manager's perspective.  Oh, and for the last couple years they've included stats from the last 100+ years, which means you can start out long before you'll be drafting Babe Ruth and can play up until women join major league baseball (you can set what year that happens, I believe it defaults to 2020).  Tons of fun, I've bought the new edition for the last four years, and I'm eagerly awaiting the version for this year, which should be out in late March.  Check them out if you're a baseball stat geek like me:

Mike, I bought an almost mint condition atari on ebay years ago. It still had the original box. I didnt play it much, graphics obviously suck and the games werent as fun as I remembered them, so I stopped playing it. I would rather cherish the memories of how cool those games were then be brought back down to reality. :hihi:

I remember the football game I had for atari, was 2 stick figures running length wise of the screen and the ball was like a dot of light :D

One thing that sucked about those old games is how short the game were. Hell, Donkey Kong had 2 levels on atari! :rofl: Popeye(a great game) had like 4 or 5. And pitfall was just running around and if you could not die for 20 minutes the game stopped. You can see why nintendo killed off atari quickly. Hell, right after the other systems came out after atari, stores had brand new atari games for a dollar. The week before they were $20-$40. They couldnt give that shit away. :hihi:

Early nes games weren't that great, either. It took 2 or 3 years for the classics we all remember to appear. I've downloaded huge ROM packs of nes games with 500+ games, but 90% of them were absolute garbage. There were only a few dozen great nes games, but that's still more than our current consoles.

By the way, I recommend Clash At Demonhead for nes platformer fans. That's one fine game.  ;D

I loved pitfall... I just remember being underground jumping over scorpions or above stepping on the alligator's heads to cross a lake or swinging on a vine.. Good time..  I had a he man game for atari.... I remember nintendo games like the mario brothers 2 maybe was like 40 bucks in the late 80's.. Games werelike 60 bucks too.. Amazing that shit stayed the same price for 20 years.. Fucking jordan sneakers were over a 120 bucks in 86 yet they are around the same in 06 :-\

I have things like Bump n Jump, keystone kapers, fishing derby(1980 classic) joust, ghosts n goblins, breakout or through, pitfall, grand prix, asteroids.. I can't thinkof any others now ,I need to write em down next time.. I had pike's peak and some chuck norris game, also spiderman and superman games

Keystone Capers was awesome! I haven't thought about that game in years. It was actually the last game I played on Atari back in the good old days. When I got a nintendo, a little while after that one of my friends gave me a few atari games, keystone capers being one of them. Me and my cousin played it alot, although we had the nintendo. It was addicting. Sort of like a primitive Elevator Action. We never actually beat the game though.  I remember grand prix. A crappy looking car that didnt move, just the lines of the track moved. :hihi: Fun back then though.

Yes! I just bought a Capcom classics collection for Xbox, and it had all three versions (Ghosts 'n Goblins, Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts). Of course I also have the original game on Megadrive 8)

Hell yea man. Those two both kicked some major ass. I remember staying over a friends all night makin guys on Attitude, and I remember getting Streets of Rage 2 with Sega Genesis. Man was that the shit back then.

Halo 2 is possibly the best multiplayer game ever. About this time last year to the end of last summer, I would always bring my xbox over my neighbors house to link them together. We did that EVERY night and it never got old. It sux cause everyone is busy now and we cant play as much but we still get together during holidays when everyone is home. The only time I ever play video games now is when I play this one friend in Madden 06. We both fantasy drafted teams. I was into SOCOM 3 online, but, for some reason, I stopped playin it.

Hey James, were you talkin about Call of Duty: Big Red One? I got that over xmas. It's pretty good. I was never a big fan of COD but that game rocked.

I'm sure lots of people remember it, it's just that it didn't really feature that many great games, so the retro value isn't as high as it is with the Megadrive/Genesis.

I remember buying Super Ghouls and Ghosts on the SNES after having played it years ago on...the Commodore, I think.

I remember that the jumping was a bitch, as with most of them. Once you pressed jump forward, you couldn't hold back...You jumped as far as fucking possible every damn time.

You got to the final boss, and it was like a dream or something...
