Title: Albums (Or Songs) You've Played Out?
Post by: Eazy E on February 03, 2006, 03:44:15 PM
Are there any CDs that you've listened to so frequently in such a short period of time, that you can't listen to them anymore?

Are you cautious at all of playing out a song or album?  Or do you say "fuck it, if I'm enjoying it this much now, I might as well keep listening"?

When you get songs by bands you never listen to. I usually spin them out very quickly, the true test of a song is when you never listen too much, and it's always good.

Same here. I was always a huge Metallica fan, since I was 13 years old when Justice came out. But I got really burnt out on their material years ago, and haven't listened to them since.

I haven't listened to the old stuff in longer than that. But I do listen to The Blues and Chinese Democracy on a regular basis. I decided to take a break from the old stuff because i didn't want to get completely burnt out on it the way I have with bands like Metallica and Led Zeppelin.

Best of You and Times Like These by the Foo Fighters. I've played those two songs out that I can't stand to hear them now.

Also the album Yourself or Someone Like You by Matchbox Twenty.

I can agree with most there, but Megadeth's Rust In Piece, Pantera's Cowboys From Hell, and Manowar's Battle Hymns are absolutely timeless for me. I've listened to those albums for years without growing tired.

You got that right. That is one of the best albums of the 90's. I consider Rust in Peace and Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss to be two of the greatest metal records ever made.

Yeah, Loads.  But probably the most:

*Motley Crue (Some songs), I Just listened to them so much that I got sick of them
*AC/DC  I went on an ACDC crazzzzeeee  Last year and now I just dont listen.  I wouldnt, however, get annoyed if they came on the radio.
*Aerosmith - Don't wanna miss a thing
*Last Kiss - Pearl Jam
*Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen
*Jesus of Suburbia - Greenday
*Actually, Any "American Idiot" Greenday Songs...
*Mr. Jones - Counting Crowes.

And probably alot more.

You listen to some damn good music to be so young. Most young people are not into that kind of music. Its cool that you are ignoring the trends for your age group. I'm shocked that someone your age got burnt out on 'Mr. Jones'. :hihi:

Haha - thankyou m'dear.  Yeah, I know most people my age arent interested.  I have a male friend who loves my music and all of the girls pretend to like that music because he's rather goodlooking.  But its basiclly obvious they dont know a thing.   ::)

Yeah - Mr. Jones.  I loved that song.   My play count of it on itunes is about 300!!   :o

Yeah, I had to stop listening to GNR a year or two ago.  I just hope that once the new record comes out I'll be able to get into both their old and new stuff... but I've really had no desire to put on any of their CDs.

I think the most played out song in the history of music is probably Hey Ya!.... and I think Outkast knew it by the time the Grammys rolled around, it seemed like the song was almost being retired at the show.

It really makes you think how tough it must be for the artist to play the song with emotion night after night   :o

I cant speak for Journey, but I cant tell you I never lost interest in that record since it was first released...

A truly inspired and timless rock album..

Rob Thomas has sure lost his creative step since then though.....

I've noticed a change too. When he was/is with Matchbox Twenty he seems to sing with a lot more emotion and intensity. And that's what attracted me to them to begin with--the way he goes off in the songs.  His solo work is good, but it's a little too controlled, vocally.

Everything the Stones played during the SuperBowl.

Did we really need to hear Start Me Up again?

I feel exactly the same. I actually changed the channel during halftime because I knew it would be their usual thing. They play that song no matter what they're doing. I remember back at the 1994 VMA's they played it. Why? What relevancy did the song have at a 1990's award show? Its like they think theyre required to play it. During their past few tours there is alot of hits they dont play. Whats so special about this one? It doesnt even come close to being their best song.

None, really.

I have a monsterous CD collection, probably closing in on 800 Cds, so the rotation is farily large. I don't listen to some stuff as much as I used to, but I still listen to it.
