No. The Chinese government is smart enough to know the album's not about China. Even if they were pissed, I'm sure that Axl/Universal/Sanctuary will come to some sort of an agreement to release the album under a different name there.

That's a disgusting comment. That's the attitude that perpetuates the kind of attrocities that countries like China are unfortunately known for.

Honestly, I just wander that....I do think the amount of records chinese record companies import is very limited.
As for those imported, chinese record companies often change the lists even though the songs have nothing to do with politics.

I know we've disagreed b4 on this James in another thread, but I'll say it again.  The references made in the song Chinese Democracy are classic Axl lyrics:  persecution, injustice, apathy, victimization, etc. and when you tie those images into a song that talks about "keeping your own kind in hell," "even with an iron fist...to rule the nation," and "when your Great Wall rocks blame yourself," to say it makes no reference to China is incorrect.

If the album was allowed by the Chinese government to be released there, which I doubt it would be without changes made to those lyrics (and the album's title itself), it really wouldn't give GNR any $$$ because China is, from what I understand, the pirating capital of the world.  Just my opinion.   :peace:

Also, I 2nd what Almost Famous said in his post.

I was talking about the Chinese government, not the people. I couldn't care less for a regime that terrorizes it's own people, suppressing their freedom and then calling it 'Communism'.

The Chinese Government let Axl play Hong Kong (granted they're in a special situation relative to the mainland-but still). He played Chinese Democracy at it. I seriously doubt tptb in the Communist party worry about one rock song bringing down the government.

Although, i had to laugh when i heard about the google thing, b/c it is so damn appropriate relative to the song's content.

i think 'human rights' is censored aswell.  Not that it has anything to do with the thread, but I think what Google has done is trash, shows what they do for the almighty dollar.

Fools.  :P

Google searches keywords, doesn't it?

Chinese Democracy as an album wouldn't technically be censored, but typing "Chinese Democracy" as a search entity might be.

Gettit?

However, "Chinese Democracy" as a keyword hasn't been cencored yet. why don't you guys just have a try? ::)

Indeed, some web sites including wikipedia have been banned now, and some functions of google search do not work correctly in China :-\. But I can still download the song 'chinese democarcy' from lots of chinese web site. people can visit those banned web sites by using proxy.

The mainland and Hong Kong are open to each other though their political systems are different. Once GNR tours in China, I think it will be in Hong Kong again(or Macao). No doubt I'll be there. ;D
